Dream instrument, or….?

Bass clarinet and baritone saxophone.
I would love to see more bass clarinets in blues bars among saxophones, they have very particular sound that would benefit to be discovered by people IMO.
And when one or two baritone saxophones punch a few notes in a David Bowie's song it’s always magic.
But it won’t happen with me, I'm a p bass dinosaur and still have a lot to learn.

Hammered Dulcimer evet since I saw Rich Mullins play and sing at the same time. Amazing!
Part of me was like, nah, I'm a bass player. Then I realized - I love listening to great guitar soloists and always have. Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Alex Lifeson, Jerry Garcia - I even played guitar as a kid and learned some stuff, but never had the confidence to stick with it. Now I just enjoy it, and if I can play with a hot-s**t guitarist there's nothing I like better, especially backing them up on solos!
Keyboards on the other hand - I loved them too, with Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman probably at the top of the list. I actually learned classical piano as a kid but never practiced and never really got into it and gave it up when I picked up the guitar at 11. But in my 30s I got my first Moog synth and got back into them. Still very rudimentary, but this is an instrument that I do kind of work on.

Drums for me. I’m not half bad, but the space and noise level makes it pretty prohibitive.
Not silent, but not full chicken-killing volume like a whole set of pipes.

Cello, no question. I'd pick one up if my attentions weren't already too divided among bass, bass guitar, reeds, piano, drums, etc. Next life.
I wish I had a purty singing voice, but I know I could get to the high side of decent with some professional instruction.
Trumpet, there’s just something about the way it is played that sounds really organic to me.

It was 4th grade for me, and I picked trumpet because that's what I thought a trombone was called. It worked out fine; trumpet got a lot of melody.
I’ve played a lot of instruments in my life. When I was very young, my Dad had a uke, banjo, and guitar, and I used to play around with them. My maternal grandparents had a Wurlitzer organ and I used to play on it when I visited. My paternal grandparents had a piano, and again, I would play on it when I visited. I had no formal training until middle school when I played cornet in band. Later, my dad’s friend had a guitar and he taught me some chords and let me play his Gibson Hummingbird. He gave me my first guitar, his Fender Mustang, I played guitar for about ten years, then I switched to bass. In my fifties, I taught myself mandolin, and my latest exploit, congas, cajon, and djembe. So I’ve taught myself a lot of instruments, with only formal training on cornet and guitar. But I’m always open to new experiences, so who knows what might be next?
I'd love to have a theremin, but I just know I'd never touch it.
Sitar.I know it’s been asked several times before whether anyone plays instruments other than bass and I know a lot of us do. But I want to ask you all here whether there is an instrument that you *wish* you could play but haven’t yet got around to getting started on.
For me, it’s the Organ. And I mean the full thing, the Real McCoy, with three registers, pipes, foot pedals, hand sliders and all. Medieval cathedral-style, complete with the bats in the belfry. I’ve always loved this sound - it literally gives me shivers down my spine when I hear it in real life.
So. How about you? If there’s nothing for you that fits this bill, maybe you can just suggest a good thread title for me?
