Dressing for the stage

I am between bands but would definitely want a suitable look for a future venture. Probably lots of black, low lightning. The audience would probably appreciate that low lighting too. But it's more about a desire for the music and associated visuals being the important factor, not me.

I did sound and lights for friends, and they wore masks for much of the performance. And one of their friends performs wearing a gas mask. With my asthma that probably wouldn't work for me.

Speaking of light, one of my kids went to beauty school and for an assignment had to interview people about what they do to make themselves look good.

My formula is to wear a hat and stay away from the light.

I still say don’t wear black, at least wear a shirt that keeps you from blending into the shadows. People want to see the band. Just not my face.

Maybe the best dressed with the current scare. Just gonna muddy up the vocals. And don't know how that works on a harmonica or trumpet.

IMO this is a little stupid to say « dress better than the audience »

if I play in a wedding ... every girls wear beautiful dress and have their hair done ... guy in toxedo etc you can’t top that

playing metal ... everyone wear black and band shirt ... just like the band ...

I play classical I wear a suit just like everyone in the audience ....

Unless this is an USA thing

My three cents worth (allowing for the exchange rate, so Americans get their full two cents): What you wear depends on what/where you play, e.g.: playing classic rock in bars - jeans, t-shirt/button down shirt; playing corporate/wedding gigs - tailored pants, button down shirt; etc. I don't mind bands that dress with a "theme" but find it weird in this day and age when the whole band dresses identically.

You can wear a beautiful dress if you like. I've seen many a man on stage wearing a dress. You have to have the legs for it, though
