Droolers

I was lead singer along with being the bass player. I had all kinds of issues with spit. My bass was covered with it by the end of the night not to mention the top part of my shirt. I do know what your talking about with weird breathing patterns too just playing bass
 
I had the pleasure of some major dental excavation last winter, and it seems that I drool at times I didn't drool before….sometimes as I'm playing, yep.
As for breathing, I used to catch myself holding my breath when I was first playing Djembe and Conga drums (for a dance class, say..), really tried to make a habit of breathing in a steady, relaxed manner when my thoughts were elsewhere.
