GHS make a set with a 110 E, well, D, for a Drop D tuning, I'm sure they'res others out there.

As stated earlier these are all pretty much designed for simple Downtuning as opposed to Drop-Tuning
This set has a 115 "E" for drop tuning.

Thanks for taking the time... I'm new to playing bass and was actually wondering about this concept. It is well articulated and easy for me (Who really doesn't know anything about anything when it comes to music) to understand.
I toured with a band that uses "drop C" CGCF tuning. I used GHS Bass Boomers H3045 Heavy Gauge 115-95-70-50 and it worked well and felt right. In my experience GHS Boomers seem to have more tension than other strings I have used of the same gauge. Boomers aren't exactly my favorite choice but it was a set that worked well without needing to purchase a seperate drop C string.
I've been using Boomers 115s tuned C F Bb Eb and couldn't be happier. I'll always have a 4 with that tuning in the arsenal.

The Claude, Darkstrike---- I was unaware of this set... seems like it would work well for Drop C.... I stand corrected!
All my my 4-stringed basses are tuned DGCF, and I always use that GHS Heavy Boomers set. It has nice tension all over the fretboard. Have done Drop C with it, no problem.
I've even done BECF -tuning with it (34" scale bass), the B gets a bit sloppy but tight enough for sludge death metal.

La Bella makes a set specifically for DGCF tuning. The gauges are .054-.075-.090.-111. I've used those for years and they're great, but lately I've been having to tune drop C#, which has presented problems. Tuning the D string down and the others up makes my bass unhappy. So, thanks for this thread. I'm going to look into some different gauges.

That's what I would recommend. Somehow this thread became all about strings......
In any case Im about to start running drop B on a 5 string so we'll see how that goes.
what about information on common settings and suggested adjustments to EQ when using this tuning? I haven't seem much information on that. I have to EQ my Gibson Ripper differently on my amp in drop C than when tuned to standard.
