Dude, bands are a team effort. If the cat is wanting to be the star and run the show he might just consider hiring you guys as sidemen..then theres never a question. But , you havent even played out and this kindof garbage is going down? Whats wrong with that picture?

Playing for "fun" in this situation isn't very likely, IMHO!
I promise you that you can find another drummer.
This is beyond absurd. And has taken up way too much of your headspace.
I wouldn't tolerate this. I'd jump or fire the drummer. Life and music careers are too short to waste with drama. Peace.
Having played in a band based out of Lewiston, Idaho (I lived in the prison apartments and hung out at Jonathan's and The Modern West) I know there are plenty of guys in the right age group around there that play(ed) drums. You just haven't looked in the right places. You couldn't spit without hitting a passable drummer and I'm pretty sure there was no mass drummer exodus of the early 90's. Right about now most of their kids should be graduating college as the coast into their middle age crisis, looking to rekindle their youth. As was said, get the word out where those guys will see it. And ditch the dead weight you're working with now and take the cream with you and get working on learning a list of songs. A decent drummer will have no problem catching up with you when you find him. Life's too short to babysit idiots.

Hahahahaha!!! You almost had me going!! Alice In Chains is/was awesome and Jerry Cantrell is definitely a musicians musician. He did wonders with unusual time signatures and alternate tunings. They contributed greatly to the music world and Layne Staley is sorely missed. NOBODY has ever sounded like them (they really weren't grunge btw). The only band that comes close to their gloomy, dark, desolate moodiness is Deftones. Some people don't like them but MILLIONS do.

I don't get what I'm reading here. For one, it's all pie in the sky, you haven't played a gig yet, you aren't ready, and you are talking about a split of $500 in the end anyway. If that's serious money to you that you would put up with all of this, whoever is at fault, then I'd suggest you have a much bigger problem on your hands.
Regardless, the problem here is much, there's no leadership, no vision, a lack of skill, an inability to communicate, I could go on. Basically, a group of people that don't and probably can't work well together. Maybe you could all learn to, but from the attitudes I'm seeing I doubt it and I'm not sure you all should even bother. I agree that the world has heard plenty of Alice In Chains and .38 Special, I mean, don't knock yourselves out here trying to get that together and bore people with more of that for your $500.
Sorry to be harsh, but this sounds like a group of people that just inherently aren't going to be able to come together as a cohesive unit required to make any music. Your list of demands is frankly insane, your coming on here bad mouthing your bandmates (who you should really be talking to) is in poor taste, the whole project is neither artistically satisfying to you (and shouldn't be) and the money isn't all that much. Why struggle with it? Why lose friends over it? Why fight this fight?

I've played "We're An American Band" in probably 4 or 5 bands, with a few different drummers. I considered them all pretty good. However, for some reason, not one of them could nail that into. The last band I was in, with probably the best drummer of the lot, I asked him why no drummers could nail that intro. He gave me some kind of explanation which I didn't really understand. For what it's worth, he came the closest, but still was just a little bit off.
Point being, while that song is fairly easy for regular people, apparently, one needs a pretty good drummer to pull it off.

The only reason to be in a bar cover band is to have fun. The money is insignificant compared to the time invested and at your age is not going to lead to making it big.
What is the least bit fun in this situation, unless you dig sitting back and watching dysfunctionality? There have to be some well-grounded adults to play with in Idaho.

It is funny that you say this. I played with a guy in high school who is the only drummer that could actually play that intro. I never really thought about it until another drummer I have known since high school, told me the other guy was the only one who could play it. Anyway, this guy is now a big time drummer, playing with major national acts. Like I said earlier, quite a few of the songs on that list require a competent drummer let alone some hack who can't even count through 2 measures...
Ya I meant 1989 LOL I am not trying to put up with it I am trying to bring the players up in level of music and maturity. As for People wanting to hear alice in chains I don't know I am in AIC territory, they seem to have their fans here.

That's really an odd thing to say. Looking at my Reply to the whole situation in the OP maybe you can tell me what I said in that, that might suggest I am 16? Because I addressed it at all? OK.
If anyone in my band ever sent me anything as long winded as the OP I'd be tempted quit on the spot. Then again, if the band had a drummer that couldn't play, played music I didn't like, and had the communication skills of a pre-schooler I wouldn't be in the band in the first place.
