I was just emailing DSM/H about this exact thing and didn’t get a clear response. Randomly checked their site today and surprise! Not just one but TWO new bass-tailored devices!
First being the Bass Master in their Simplifier line:
The details are sparse but comparing it to the Bass Station, it has:
-Brand new enclosure, looks much sturdier (and drop dead gorgeous IMO)
-4-band EQ, instead of 3-position switchable Mids
-Selectable preamp modes between Clean, Comp, and Hot
-FX loops are now designated as Pre and Post and the Pre-FX loop is assignable to Drive, Both, or Parallel
-Mic Position and Resonance are gone, replaced with a sweepable Open to Closed Port knob and a sweepable Tweeter control knob; the selectable cab sizes are now independent of the port type
So, what’s the deal with the Sub-Atomic preamp? I initially thought it was their Silver Linings drive but for bass, but it’s actually a separate preamp/DI option for bass that’s instead focused on a X-over CMOS overdrive with a footswitchable clean channel. Very interesting! DI is XLR out with a toggle for an 8x10 cab. Check that out here:
