Double Bass Dtar Bass Soundspot

It looks exactly like Bass Max. Lot's of players use the Bass Max. I'm not one of them. Personally, IME, IMHO I would go with an Realist (Copper Foil), or a Fishman Full Circle. If you're going to do any Arco playing then the Realist would be my choice.

Ric, I currently use a Full Circle on my bass, and I find that it is not dark like my Realist was and is very feedback resistant. On my bass as well, I find the bowed sound of the FC a lot smoother. Probably not like if I used a mic (DPA 4099B, Shure SM57, etc.) but better than the Realist that came with my bass. However, on the bass I use at school for Jazz Choir/Jazz Band sounds fantastic with a Realist whereas a Full Circle would sound squeaky.

Generally, across most basses I've played on with the Full Circle installed, I just didn't care for the Arco sound, but since everyone's bass is different, literally and sonically, I'm sure it sounds great on your bass. Using a Realist for about 10 years, I found that as long as you didn't try to play at high volumes, it got a better sound on my bass, into a Walter Woods MI-400-8 or Woods Electroacoustic Ultra, especially with the bow. I ditched the Realist two years ago, and went the the Ehrlund EAP and Pre Amp. On my bass, with Evah Parrazi Weich's, using the Woods amps, and a TC 112, I'm in tonal heaven, regardless of weather it's pizzicato or arco. Glad it works for you.
