This Beauty would make a good one. Best dual MM pickups I've played. 43437540_10215095421153974_1171057897367404544_o.
  5. ^ Wow that thing is awesome looking, and with a clear pick guard as to not cover that beautiful spalt!

My Custom Built Devon Classic J5 loaded. One of the best luthiers in the United States Devon Smullen made it for me. I'm selling to buy another with my favorite pickups.

  9. one of the most versatile basses on Earth:

Yes, split-coil pickups are humbuckers, but sound closer to a single-coil, w/o the hum.

    L2000 gets my vote.

    Of course, there’s always this.
Even though they’re more than mere humbuckers.

I have a very nice L2000 but that’s definitely one of the nicer ones.

I post plenty of G&L pics that aren’t mine, too.
You have to love the way they photograph their basses on the bench.

I've actually got one of those awaiting a new nut as well as a JSB. It's going to sound and especially play a bit different than all the other humbucker basses, since it uses guitar pickups rather than bass ones. This means everything on the BXB and JSB is going to be scaled down a little. Be aware of that before you buy. The string spacing is going to be tighter, and they're 32 1/4 scale; they may be a little tight if you're used to playing on a wide fretboard. That said, I kinda of want to try putting an EMG 85/81 combo in one just to try.

If you're looking at Ernie Ball don't overlook the Sterling. Thinner neck and a little more attitude from the pickups.
