We'll all miss the bassist who made history with a band that broke the color barrier. I think it is fitting that on his last day here with us, he was playing music, the thing that he loved most.

We'll all miss the bassist who made history with a band that broke the color barrier. I think it is fitting that on his last day here with us, he was playing music, the thing that he loved most.

One of my early idols of bass.
What a tone, strong, killer groove.
Seen him with Cropper, Blue Brothers, Clapton, Neal Young.
Got to talk to him at a gig on Martha's Vineyard once.
Duck Dunn was the real deal.
Got to spend a couple hours chatting w/ Dunn and Cropper while they were waiting for a TV taping to happen. Both the nicest, most humble cats ever. Like Ray Brown, Duck died on the road, in his sleep. If ya gotta die -- and you do -- there are plenty of worse ways to go.
I was informed of this by my roommate, who is not knowledgable in music territory. I was sad to hear the news.
A very sad day. Got to meet him in Chicago at the Raising THe Bottom Concert. A great guy & gentleman as well as a monster non slap funk machine.
Ah, Duck. A huge inspiration to me. Been listening to the Stax catalog today. What a powerful, simple, elegant groove. No one played the low end like Duck Dunn. My condolences to his family, and thanks to the man for sharing his craft with the world. R.I.P.
Duck was my Jaco, a pure, solid, awesome bass player who I always tried and wanted to sound like. RIP Duck, you were a huge inspiration to many of us..thank you for your music.
One of the best ever. Was lucky enough to meet him when he played in Clapton's band, a true gentleman.

He will be missed. A true legend for our instrument but obviously he was also a human being who has now departed and has left behind loved ones. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.
