I saw some kid playing bass for some of that screamo or hardcore stuff..whatever..at a battle of the bands
Well he was throwing his bass mommy and daddy bought him around like a stick and on one jump it goes wrong and i see an Ampeg 8x10 and svt head just start tipping forward and just keep going and going.BANG!!!
haha dont get me wrong i thrash hard in all the metal groups ive been in but that was just so dumb

I went to an Earth, Wind and Fire concert back in the late 70's. There was a little native hut set up on the stage and at one point Verdine runs into the hut while still playing. The hut raises about 20 feet in the air and explodes in a ball of pyrotechnics. Verdine comes running out from behind his amp and continues being his bad self.

Didn't seem to have anything to do with the song and just struck me as stage theatrics for the sake of stage theatrics.

ps> this post is in NO WAY a dis on Verdine! Excellent player and performer!

Well, once I dropped a steinberger (from over my head) onto the stage - turned all the way up and with a fizz box going. it seemed like a good idea at the time... Sadly, it was at a famous 'listening room' club in Nashville, with a pretty good handful of successful artists and songwriters in attendance. That's the sort of thing that's kept me where I am today...

In Las Vegas a few years ago, I was part of a band playing for three nights in that big venue at the MGM Grand; the synth player was on the riser with me (while the piano was on the other side of the drummer). Anyway, the promoters brought in an SVT as part of the back line; I was getting a sound, and the synth guy thought he could point the amp a little away from him; He pushed the amp about three inches and a wheel came off of the riser. And s-l-o-w-ly the whole SVT tipped over backwards. There was a 3 foot walkway behind the riser and a rail at the back of the stage, and the cabinet kinda stuck between the riser and that rail, while the head went on over the rail and hung about 10 feet off the floor of the arena, dangling by the power and speaker cords.

It made a god-awful noise, of course - all of the band and the crew were staring at the amp, at me and at the synth player who caused it all. He looked around, smiled and said, "The bass was a little loud...".

I didn't actually see this, so I don't know if it counts.

In the 80's I took music lessons from a guitar teacher who was playing in a big hair band. Regionally they were fairly popular, but their name escapes me.

Anyway, one night he was late getting on stage and apparently stepped right over a flash pot just as it went off. He claimed his left leg was on fire for the first half of the first song!

I have a similar story to some of the others. I was watching some rock band playing an outdoor street festival on a short portable stage. Because of the slope of the pavement, the outer legs of the stage were not really resting on the ground very well. A couple of band members started bouncing up and down, which started the edge of the stage bouncing up and down. Suddenly two amplifiers bounced right into the street. Quite entertaining.

Les brings some kid onstage; the band members all have a big swig of beer, spit it into Skerrick's sax, and make the kid chug it.
Nasty.
This is what makes it dumb--Les forgot to ask if the kid was 21...:D

Dumbest thing that I've ever done at a show: Pink Floyd, 1994(?), OSU Stadium, nosebleed seats.
Do not be looking at the stage through binoculars when all those flash pots go off during the encore! :crying:

some kid at a recent show i was at threw his hollowbody thinline telecaster like 20 feet in the air to come crashing down on the input jacking making the louded noise i've ever heard... that was until he though it was be a great idea to knock over HIS SUNN FULLSTACK!!! you could hear all the tubes shatter and you know that amp didnt survive that fall. The worse part was he ran off the stage feeling stupid, leaving his band to clean up after him.

i mean granted he was playing guitar but goddamn why would someone be so stupid.
