Dunlop 105Q pops when disengaged

Funky? Seems like you've never tried a vintage Morley Power Wah!

Seems like I hit a nerve here, so perhaps I should qualify my statement. I don't like them because:
  • you can't leave it set mid-sweep (deal breaker)
  • they distort very easily in my experience

And going by all the posts on this forum about them, they seem to be somewhat variable in their build quality and factory alignment accuracy. However, they do sound good (when they're not distorting) and I like the additional control you have over the sound.

I tried several of these things, using several basses, and they all distorted. They really should have stuck with the 2x9V batteries. The extreme-ness of the filter is what makes them sound good, but the limitation of the 9V supply causes them to clip too easily. For comparison, the filter section in the old Morleys runs on 55V!!! Clip that filter and you won't care because you'll be bleeding from your ears!

You make good points indeed. And you didn't touch a nerve for me...I just wanted to make a fart joke.

The deal-breaker for me on the 105Q is the bypass. Sucks like...well, my analogy there would probably get me banned.

In any case, I've never done the old Morley. The favorable thing about 105Qs is the goopy wetness of their sound. I'm a fan of dripping wet funk, and the 105Q does bring it (IMHO, at least).

I've got an old chrome Morley Power Wah and I actually prefer the 105Q, but that's me. I don't mean to say the 105Q doesn't have it's inherent problems, it certainly has a lot of them, but I'm still searching for something that works better for me. I'm interested in that Wilson Q Wah but the thing that stops me from buying one right now is I didn't like the way his guitar wahs sounded. But I guess it's only a matter of time until I break down and try the thing.

well, I think it's the first time i write here, I'm from italy, so Hi everyone!

I re-up this thread because it's the ONLY post in the internet that have something in common with my problem.

So, my Dunlop 105Q pops when disengaged. I've send it to repair (it was in warranty) and they told me that's in the "limit range" and they cannot do anything about that.

can someone expert in electronic please help me to finally get rid of this issue?
