Dunlop flats pricing...

When I bought my sets, both medium and long scale, they were about $32 to $35 bucks, now the last I checked, they are between $47 and 49 bucks. As much as I like them, there are other brands I like too that are less expensive.

I even saw sellers asking for retail... $105.

My problem is that the only other flats that I like are Thomastik Infeld. My saving grace is that I don't "have" to buy flats again anytime soon.

Two Things.

First, yes. There's a major shortage of flatwire right now, coupled with an insane demand for flatwound strings (guitar and bass).

Second, and this is an assumption, perhaps Dunlop looked at what the competition is selling their flats at and, realizing they needed to adjust the pricing anyway, decided to make it more inline with market price.

I completely understand the first point. The second might be true as well. Only the folks at Dunlop know for sure.

For sure. I only brought up the second point (can attest the first point is fact) because when I'm looking at our pricelist, I will do direct comparisons to see where we're at. Our last price increase had the tapewound sets raised 8% because we were so low.

Yes. I like them more than TI.

You can find them for well under $100 but when I got mine I don't recall the big range in pricing for the same strings. Maybe I didn't notice, I found two sets of light five strings for $70 delivered.
