I don't know if it gets much looser than SBN's in 40-100, although low tension is certainly a thing with manufacturers more and more.

Dunlop SuperBrights Used for Years...What's Next?

Yes, why change? I use them, more specifically, Marcus Miller set and love them. No issues or reason to change. Flexibility not an issue for me.Anything wrong with the Dunlops or just looking for a change?

Definitely give the Pure Blues a try. They are really wonderful strings and last a good long time.
I was going to say this ... These are expensive, but the Dunlop Super Bright Nickel rounds are already among the most flexible strings around ... The TIs seem to be one of the few that might be even more flexible.
I have a set of Dunlop SS SuperBrights installed (hex core) which is what prompted the search. Think I'm leaning more towards a nickel with a round core for the "softer" feel. You are correct: I liked the SuperBright nickels better than their SS counterparts.

Keep in mind Dunlop Super Brights are VERY flexible for a hex core due to the small diameter of the core wire - almost as flexible as DR round cores. The main difference would be the surface texture, DRs being smoother in feel.
Anything wrong with the Dunlops or just looking for a change?

Just looking for a change...in part. A 5 string set is only $20 at FretNation. They've had some QC issues and I'm not 100% convinced that the problem(s) was fully resolved. I rarely change my strings so the price tag is not necessarily a driving force.

Sidenote and having little bearing on the discussion: I have a set of EB Cobalt Flats on stand-by and will install once I decide upon the recipient bass...probably be the Soundgear. They supposedly cop a worn-in / broken-in roundwound vibe. We'll see.

What kind of QC issues? I just started using the Dunlop Super Brights on my Rickenbacker basses and like them a lot.
Durn things wouldn't intonate...this was a few years back. I believe there's an older thread on the issue.

I don't think you will be disappointed. I am not a flats guy. I tried as set of EB Cobalt Flats on a fellow TBer basses. Was able to play several of his basses With flats on them from diff brands. Was blown away at how round wound the Cobalt Fats sounded. Felt very good as well, flexible also. He was using a fairly light gauge. You can see some of the comments on the Lakland Owners group #69 thread. I was considering a set for my modded Sub Ray.
Maybe I need to try a set again, but the sets I tried did not seem to have that going on under my fingers.

DR SUNBEAMS. A low tension, flexible, long lasting and great sounding string. I use the light gauge 40-100. Very comfortable to play.
I was a Super Bright user for years and have since switched all my basses to SIT Nickel Power Wounds. I really like them a lot - it's been long enough since I used the Super Brights that I can't describe the difference, but I would definitely recommend giving them a try. They're also super cheap, so it's a low-risk proposition if you don't end up loving them.
Yes, the Super Bright Nickels are very similar to the DR SUNBEAMS. I still prefer the SUNBEAMS by a smidge but I'm happy with the DUNLOPS too, and they're generally less $$$.
Niether are nearly as flexible as SuperBrights though, unless you go down to a smaller gauge.
A round core does not mean a 'softer' feel than a hex core. There are many other factors...which is why SuperBright hex cores are softer feeling than every other string mentioned here yet except maybe TI Jazz Rounds.
Then my fingers must not like 40-100 for E standard, because the sets I tried did not seem unusual.
If it seems I am dogging these strings, I will add that out of the several kinds I have tried on a CAR TMB 300, the SS superbrights stuck out to me the most on a playback I heard with that bass (it is currently wearing 35-95 Black Labels).
I used Dunlop SB's for years and loved them. Give LaBella RX SS a try. Bright, not stiff whatsoever and they last forever! I'm running 40-100 and love the flexibility. Also tried a lot of different DRs……they died quickly and were stiff IMHO.
Maybe I should stick with the nickel SuperBrights and drop down one gauge (40-?). The existing sets were all 45-130....actually a 6 string set with the C removed.
