I would kind of liken it to taking different types of car designs and putting things together. In general, the building blocks of almost all the electronics used in analog pedal design were created 40+ years ago and we are just re-applying them. The usual first pass ideas that people come up with are just take design ABC and adjust it a bit. Maybe add or subtract from it and then release. I am not going to mention the outright cloners or the authentic vintage folks (people who try to nail the original design in a remake).

The next level up would be taking the individual building blocks of any design (more or less smallest pieces) and then combing them together to synthesis a new design. The unique-ness of that design depends on the design itself. It could still resemble an already built design. Have to assess on a case by case basis.

As far as this design goes, I don't think there is anything exactly like it but I mean that more in the generic sense.
There are plenty of distortion pedals with 3 band EQs. Plenty of Ge pedals. A good number of tube pedals. ect ect

The concept is interesting as well. If I understand it correctly, it is a germanium circuit and a tube (Did I get that wrong?)
The sound demo made it sound like the lows were intact and it was fairly transparent. It didn't destroy the attack, while still putting some compression on it. It was fuzz-like, but without as much harmonic content to make it sound like a synth.
