Reminds me of my Fuzz Throne DLX, that has a mids potentiometer as well as Depth and Clipping options on a rotary - but everything on the outside, no trimpot fiddling.

Okay…next question is even dumber, I promise. Why is a Rat with an HM-2 EQ set awesome? Why is the Zerofret Black Russian Rat (Black Russian BMP with Rat EQ set - edit: I got this backwards - it is a Rat with BRBMP EQ set) cool (I love how the clips sound but I'm not sure how well it works in the mix)? What do those different EQs do for your bass' tone?

Okay…next question is even dumber, I promise. Why is a Rat with an HM-2 EQ set awesome? Why is the Zerofret Black Russian Rat (Black BMP with Rat EQ set) cool (I love how the clips sound but I'm not sure how well it works in the mix)? What do those different EQs do for your bass' tone?

In all honesty, I dunno, Ive not ever played through one but I've had a Dunwich Rat clone that ripped harder than anything I've ever played so there's that... would love to try the Dunwich expanded FZ-2 clone as well because I have an og Boss to compare it to

Edit: Some people collect rarities so there's novelty value even if it isn't 'special' otherwise

I think you have it reversed. BRR is a Rat clipping circuit with a Muff tone control. It is cool in some settings, probably needs a blender for bass in other settings. No experience with mine in a mix. If you've used a Muff you'll understand how that tone knob works, and the benefit is the more abrasive Rat clipping style in place of the smoother compressed Muff sounds.

if you like that chainsaw KVLT sound you want those EQ points from the HM2. Maybe you have the original or a clone and you want the Rat clipping. I mean, the Rat is legendary and pretty cool.

I've tried a few different Muffs & the COG Grand Tarkin has been my favorite because of the separate clean & fuzz level controls
