Hey all. This is a great thread! I've been thinking about getting a DuoStrap for a while now. I have an '87 Ken Smith BT6, and it's mighty heavy. I have a couple of questions though.
I see people talking about the tension strap on here vs putting the 2nd strap around the horn. My bass came with Dunlop flush mount strap locks installed. It doesn't seem like there's a way to use the tension strap with the flush mount strap locks, and I don't think I can replace flush mounts with regular strap pins (or non flush mount ones) since the hole for the flush mounts is so large
So my questions are:
1) Do you think putting the 2nd strap on the horn will be fine? Or does it not work quite well enough there?
2) Can i possibly replace the flush mount strap locks with traditional ones?
I'm pretty sure I'd be comfortable putting a flush mount strap lock on the back of my bass (I have no intention of every getting rid of it). Damien Erskine talks about that here:
but how do you find that "sweet spot"? It seems like you'd need the tension strap first, to find that spot, then get rid of the tension strap and just drill a hole.
Thoughts here? Thanks for any help.
