Dusty Hill’s gear

So, I just purchased one of Dusty Hill’s caps (see below) — I know, not a big deal, not a fuzzy explorer bass that spins, ha! But he’s one of my heroes, and having grown up in Houston, it called to me.

Does anyone know where his bass gear went? Was it auctioned off, or is Elwood playing it?

For that matter, have any famous bassists passed along their gear to other bassists upon passing?

I believe his stuff was auctioned a while back. Congrats on the hat! Dusty is one of my favorites, probably in the top five, I would have jumped at the chance to own something of his.

Bernard Edwards gave his signature Stingray to admirer John Taylor. It was a gift rather than a bequest, but one made from one legendary bassist to a great one.

November/December 2023 is when it happened. I had a winning bid on a bass for a while but was eventually outbid.

He was known for playing single coil style precidions. I think mostly custom built, right? But I’m sure he had a collection
