Hi guys, I haven't been on TB or worked on this bass for awhile. I feel bad for not updating tho, so here's a few photos of the instruments I've been working on lately:

This ones an 8 string, massaranduba/bloodwood body, bocote fb, ss frets, bloodwood/paduak neck.

This is a 7 string, 9 piece ipe/p heart/yellowheart neck, bocote fb, ss frets, bloodwood top, ipe body.

Here's the back.

One thing I have to chime in on, I looked up this "13 string superbass" guy that you guys mentioned here earlier in this thread, and saw his videos on youtube. This guy is pure entertainment. The whole thing is so dumb that I keep checking back for updates and everything! It's so sad, that I feel embarrassed for him, but such a train wreck that I can't look away!! Does this make me a bad person??

no of course not, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as you dont decide to be a douche and yell "the guy who mad the 13 string bass is an (enter bad word here)" you're fine, wow i really like that explorer, i love your choice of woods for both!

...but for a first attempt, i cant say i dont admire his effort since i lack the courage or the creativity or the knowhow to get it to work

Nah, don't have any regrets about that. First of all its softwood, and second of all, he wants $800 for it!

Let's just say that if you're going to do all that work, spend all that time and money to build an instrument you should at least buy a book on the subject and research it a little bit. This guy did none of that whatsoever.

To top it off he strung it with 3 sets of 4 string bass and an extra B string (13 strings!). He then claims in his ebay add that "it is untuned and ready for you to tune" He's also claimed to have made the pickup, has never shown any pics of it and recently has started to admit that the bass does not work. After the fact that the bass hasn't sold on ebay. This dude has no clue. Hence why he's so funny.
