The second NL210 showed up in the mail today! It's been a long time coming I've had a single NL210 for three years now. Danced around with all sorts of 410/212 type cabinets and I'm finally home.

This is a monster verticle stack, it's got a great tonal balance. Looking very forward to getting it out on a gig...It is very hard for me to imagine a gig that this wouldn't cut..

Hey peter (or anyone else who knows),

I'm looking at the doubler and the Iamp pro, and unfortunately don't have the cash flow to get both - right now at least. Have you had a chance to try the pro with the upright? could you compare the usefulness of the two heads? I think you have sold me on the EA, along with many others, but just curious as to if you think i'd notice the pro not having the features the doubler has...

i second the post a while back asking for the doubler with 1200 watts.....

^ I was just screwing with these heads and cabinets; quite a bit being that I've had a nice stretch of vacation and holiday gigs. The short answer is the Pro sounds very good with the upright, assuming you do not want or need any of the mic specific functions of the doubler.

While I've done a lot of complaining about the volume output of the Doubler it is not an issue for standard DB playing at all only very loud electric gigs.

As I've mentioned I've got basically two set ups (1. Doubler/VL208/VL208 & 2. Pro/NL210/NL210). While each is respectively DB and EB specific, when doubling, I'd be more apt to use the doubler set up if the electric side was going to be P bass blues type stuff. And if the electric end of the gig was more modern funk jazz bass type tones I have no reservations using the Pro/NL210 and am very confident in the DB tones I will be getting.

EDIT: I should have mentioned I prefer the Doubler for DB playing significantly...

thanks for the quick reply! What do you get from the doubler that you don't with the pro for the db?? right now my gear is shamefully bad, the GK150/SWR Blonde for DB and Ashdown ABM plus ashdown 4x10 for R&B etc.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried the pro with DB or if there's anyone at EA who could comment about that usage....

It's the tone profile built into the head, when you a/b the pro and doubler you can hear a little more round but pronounced edge to the notes on the doubler where as the pro is a little more active sounding, if any of that makes sense. Coming from the gear you have I would guess that you'd love the pro but when you a/b them in a controlled environment you can hear a difference and the doubler is the clear winner. At least with my gear.

I'd venture to guess the Pro is a better DB head then 99% of heads designed for bass guitar and for me the tone of the pro is better then the AI stuff.

Again purely for DB tone I'd clearly choose the Doubler. My experience tells me there really is no unbelievable head for both DB and EB without introducing some sort of outboard gear to one or the other. Generally it's harder to find stuff that works well with your particular DB setup (bass, strings, pickup, mic, technique).

BTW there is also a doubler thread on the DB side that you may want to look through recently some interesting reviews.

Can't believe these amps aren't selling like hotcakes.

Any new iAmp Pro users out there?

Peter, as I recall, you cut the low end a fair bit on your Pro -- is that only when you are running through a PA or do you ever have to provide all the bass from the stage?

Hypothetically, if you had an excellent room acoustically and you were not running through the PA, how do you think you'd set the bass EQ on the Pro?

Seems like the Pro may have an inherent wide/deep voicing similar to the iAmp-800.

In a good room without running a DI I am running flat bypassing the EQ totally.

+1 I don't have the pro, but the iAMP500. If you looked at the EQ on my amp, I usually have a low end cut. That is for boomy rooms. I run 95% of the time with the EQ disabled.

Kind of ironic that here I have an amp with a massively flexible EQ, and I tend to have it disabled :p But it is nice to have it when you need it.

That's the way I prefer to run my iAmp-600 as well.
