I know that, thanks for reminding me. My rationalization is that 85% of my gigs only require a single NL210 and I've got 2 VL208s sitting around and not getting any lovin' when I'm doing an electric gigs so I thought I'd try to make it work.

Thus far the VL208/NL210 stack sounds pretty darn good!

I now had this amp on quite a few gigs and unfortunately in some tough rooms. I am finding my current #1 set up IAMP Pro / NL210 / Alleva-Coppolo LG5 (60s style j bass) seems to be a little to wide and open ended then i'd like it to be. Not terrible by any stretch but not quite perfect.

Some of this may be the recent rooms I've been in and compounded by the fact that my strings are at the very end of their life. I am hoping to get back into some more normal rooms and get a fresh set of strings on my bass and see what happens. I'm also on the back end of the wait on a new Alleva-Coppolo LM5 (70s spec'd J bass) and am yearning for that tight punchy sort of tone which may have something to do with how my ears are proccessing this current set up.

In any case this head is just a volume monster I am leaving so much on the table which is what I want.

I'd be curious to know if anybody else has taken the plunge and can share their experience?

I've had the Iamp Pro for some time now and it is really growing on me. I've been able to dial in my tone, what is especially helpful is changing the frequency center on the lower mids. It really helps with projection and finding clarity on a possible muddy stage.

I really love pairing the Pro with my NL210 and am hoping to locate a second cab for a nice vertical stack on larger gigs. I am also really digging the Doubler with a VL208 stack for more vintage type electric tones. Of course the Doubler is killing on DB with either a single VL108 or VL208 and on some occassions 2x VL108s. Two VL208s are just way to much for any kind of DB gig that I'm doing.

In any case I am really hoping to locate an NL210 and hope to report back with my findings of IAMP Pro / NL210 / NL210....It's been a long time since I sold my 85 lbs SA410 and I really am in need of a rig capable of that type of output.

I almost bought an iAmp Pro from BassNW. They had a SCREAMING deal on a used model, that had only been used for about 3 days and was in absolute mint condition. I had to wait for my next paycheck to roll in before taking the plunge. The day prior to heading down to pick it up, somebody came in and bought it.... GRRRRRRR!

I played it thoroughly in the store and could not have been more impressed. Absolutely wonderful head. Through a Berg AE410 it sounded absolutely incredible.

Very recently there was a like new Iamp Pro in the classifieds you may want to comb through quick and see if it's still available...

I LOVED everything about it and if I EVER need a 1200w SS head capable of pushing 2) 4 ohm cabs that weren't polite (liked to be TOLD what to do and not asked). . . well, I'll be looking for one of these again!

My gig changed unexpectedly and I hadn't used the PRO in the new venue. Can't keep everything, where would you put it? So I had to pass it along. Everyone should at least TRY one of these mini beasties! :bassist:

The high mid is a peaking eq, the high is a shelving eq.

You can simulate a resonant low pass filter (Q-filter a-la Alembic preamp) by boosting for example 4 kHz (wide Q) on the high mid and attenuating 4 kHz with the high Eq.

... at least theoretically. Practically setting the amp like this sounds very nice, but I don't know if its identical to the Q filter.

The high mids allow a wide or narrow Q which I am usually setting around 880 to 1000. While the high is a shelving EQ that I find usefull around the 3k mark.

The fact that the adjustable center point is quite wide I see as an advantage along with the fact that they overlap

I was able to locate a dealer (Jive Sound) who has (had) a NL210 in stock, which allows me not to have to wait until EA get's restocked on parts for the new run of cabinets.....

My two EA rigs are as follows:

Iamp Pro / NL210 / NL210

Doubler / VL208 / VL208

I just listed my pair of VL108s in the classifieds...

The way it lays out the Doubler is my DB head paired with a single VL208.. I love this set up. The stack is a very cool vintage style rig that matches well with my Alleva P bass. But mostly I want two VL208s just in case one of them goes down. I just can't find a cabinet that can amplify my DB the same way.

The IampPro an NL210 does weddings, small corporate events and almost any reasonably volumed electric gig very well. The pair of NL210s will be reserved for large clubs and outdoor summer festival type gigs...I can't wait to give it a whirl.....

If you haven't guessed I really dig EA gear....
