EAR CANDY CABS? ANYONE OWN ONE or TWO?

Really--seriously? I would be worried about a lot more than the cab if that was the situation.

I was led to believe, when I was younger, that the Ampeg 8X10 (with an SVT Head) was the be all and end all of Bass tones. Imagine my shock at the farting sounds made when I first plugged into one. The backline cabs I usually get are always tired sounding. Even the Aguilar/Epifani/Crown rigs at Ultrasound Studios here in NYC sound muddy next to my little BassBomb LMII. I don't think my rig would work for every one but for me it gets the tones I previously thought were impossible to obtain. I worry about some things but never when playing my own amp.
I do get occasional compliments playing through other rigs I just say thank you & silently wish I had my own set up.

OK guys! Lets fire this old thread back up! It is now 2013, and I've had my Bassbomb for 6 years now. It is truly a nice cab. It gets as loud as I want it. And for the most part gets the tone I want. I gig with it, and it alone (cab-wise) on a regular basis, and I can always depend on it.

My only complaint at this point, is the covering material is soft, and tears easily.

It gets compliments, but part of it is because I use a great overall rig:

Fender P-Bass Special Deluxe (Dimarzio P/Js)>SansAmp RBI w/ dbx 163 compressor in the RBIs fx loop>Carvin DC1000 power amp (bridged)>4 ohm Earcandy BassBomb. It is the shiz, I tell ya. I could absolutely get more deep lows by simply adding an eq and boosting around 40hz (my current SansAmpRBI's "bass" knob is centered on 80 Hz). But I just stick to what the RBI gives me, and all is OK in the bass-world.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are these the cabs made by the guy who pretty much had some sort of melt down and failed to produce several already paid for cabs?

Yes. Interestingly, he's cut down on his bass cab list to just a 2x10, probably the best engineered cab of his lineup.

I had a full stack, bass bomb and matching sub.
Both cabs chuffed and wheezed, and I hated them.
Here's a pic:

I was actually using the mic in the pic to record the noise from the cab to send to the maker, in this instance the port chuffing.
I wanted my money back.
Ended up selling the bass bomb to someone who liked it (it actually matched well with their v4b at low to mid volume) and parted out the sub.

Ha, looked at pic first and though 'loads of small ports in mixed spacing is a formula for turbulence' (which means chuffing and port noise).
