Of course, the Ampeg 8x10 is not designed for deep low frequencies.
Really--seriously? I would be worried about a lot more than the cab if that was the situation.
Note: I'm not at all dissing Ear Candy here... just "wondering" about these comparisons.
I was led to believe, when I was younger, that the Ampeg 8X10 (with an SVT Head) was the be all and end all of Bass tones. Imagine my shock at the farting sounds made when I first plugged into one. The backline cabs I usually get are always tired sounding. Even the Aguilar/Epifani/Crown rigs at Ultrasound Studios here in NYC sound muddy next to my little BassBomb LMII. I don't think my rig would work for every one but for me it gets the tones I previously thought were impossible to obtain. I worry about some things but never when playing my own amp.
I do get occasional compliments playing through other rigs I just say thank you & silently wish I had my own set up.
