Has anyone used this on bass yet? My guitarist bought one last month and I threw it into the chain just to see what it would do. It only has one knob. All my guitarist would say is that, "it's a pedal that makes you sound better". I'll be damned if he isn't right. It sounded awesome! So, does anyone know what it's actually doing to the signal? Or has anyone else played around with it? Is it doing something to the signal that I don't want done, but am too uniformed to know about? I only played with it for a couple songs during practice. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  2. Do you mean the Earthquaker Devices Arrows?
I tried it. Its pretty damn cool.

Duh, yes that's the one. I'm a pretty die-hard EHX fan/user, I guess I'm just used to typing EHX. Thanks for the correction.

  4. from the earthquaker website:
The Arrows is an all-discrete tone sculpting preamp booster. It was designed with the intention of adding an additional channel of gain to all your dirt pedals as well as brightening up neck pickups. It boosts midrange, tightens up the low end and makes the top end shine while adding some push to drive your dirt into blooming sustain with excellent harmonics. Its simple interface is no nonsense; a single control that will either boost or cut you signal. Use the Arrows to remove the muck from bass heavy fuzz pedals, push light overdrives into higher gains than you thought possible or even on its own to make your signal really pop with more pizazz. All analog, true bypass and handmade one at a time in the weird pit of Akron, Ohio.

  5. if i had to guess, it's a boost that pushes mids and cuts some of the sub frequencies. just a guess from the above description.

Thanks for the description. Makes sense, I love mids. It sounds great in the practice space. I think I'll borrow it for a show and see how it sounds in a bigger room.

  9. I just got one. I dig it. Tightens up the sound a good deal. Gives the amp a good kick the arse and gives other dirt boxes, in my case a Rat Tail and a Green Muff clone I made, a bit more grit and dare I say, radness.

  10. Put in more time with this device.

Love it. The midrange and volume bump hitting other dirt boxes is awesome.

Friday I get to rock it with the full band.

    Stoked.

I still haven't bought one yet, too many other things in front of it in line. But I still steal my guitarists every chance I get. I love this pedal.

Anybody losing any low end? I'm thinking one over for after my tuner at the start of the board as an always on drive/boost.

Edit: I'm sure it cuts some, but I'm just not wanting to get too brittle.

I haven't noticed any loss when I use it so far.

Sweet! Would probably make an excellent solo boost too.

  15. My home was still shaking, but bear in mind, the mids boost and you get a bit of a presence boost. So you may perceive a low drop, but for the most part, it rules.

Also, if you're going to always keep it on, just EQ around it.

How do you think this would compare to the new Dod bifet 410?

  17. Anyone still using one of these? I just ordered one as everything I could find seems positive, I'm just concerned about how much low end it retains

  18. So my Arrows just arrived and .... There's a noticable loss of low end.

Although this could just be perception as its possibly just a boost in the mids but ultimately I feel its too drastic a loss to be usable for me on bass.

It does sound good though, it makes my basses come alive with attack and presence but it's at the cost of the fundamental and for me that cost is too high.

I tried it with my Squier CV pj Jaguar bass and with my Gibson DC Tribute bass and found the same thing on both.

if you plan to use it as an always on boost you can just adjust the eq on your amp
