haha which one? The Ritter in my avatar is an extraordinary bass, but it doesn't make it to the show very often as I have a Dingwall Prima Artist that rivets most of my attention. I have a collection of wishbasses that make the rounds as well. What kind of gear do you use?
I was talking about the Ritter. Played alot of Dingwall basses(which were all very sweet BTW)
but never seen a Ritter in person. I play mostly a
Modulus Flea and a Fender Jazz with Flipside.
I also do alot of church gigs where I use an Ibanez
Prestige 5 string and a Warwick Corvette 5.

Going strong, no real breaks until December, and I'm pretty sure those will get filled shortly.
I'm subbing for the bassist with a band called Kudzu this Friday at the Double "O" in Athens TN. The lead singer and songwriter of Kudzu and I were roommates in college back in the day, it's funny how our different paths eventually brought us back together!
Soul Driver is playing at the Skyway in Sweetwater TN on Saturday.
Do you have any more theatre work coming to Maryville soon? We had a blast last time!
"Hairspray" rocks, but it's in OR, not Maryville. "Forum" is my next one in Maryville. It's Aug. 6 and 7 at the Clayton Center, part of a community theatre festival. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] The nice thing about this one is that the musicians get unlimited comps! So Jeff, I can get you two in free, and that's true for anyone else here in the East Tennessee area who might like to go.
I am down with that kind sir! We play that weekend but Sunday night is open, I know my wife would love it!
Comps are awesome, I feel bad for the folks who follow us all the time and I can't even get them past a cover charge in most places, so that's a handy thing to get!
If you two don't mind the drive to OR, you should catch "Hairspray" this Sunday afternoon. You talk about a score! Pure 60's rock band stuff, with some modern twists, and our drummer is stone-cold solid. Invalid Link Removed
I don't mind the drive one bit! Useless piece of trivia, I used to work in Jackson Square at Watson's right down from Big Ed's Pizza back before my oldest was born....the playhouse is still in Jackson Square right? In the same center with the only luthier I would let touch my acoustics?
Anyway, I just checked my schedule, I am on the hook for a coffee shop gig at church on Aug 7th so I won't be able to catch you in Maryvillle for the comp gig
Can you post deets about the Hairspray gig again? You may have already but I'm locked in replying, if you have already done so I can look it up.

Yeah, the Playhouse is still in that back right corner of Jackson Square. And the String Workshop is still going, it's a little bitty place, but I've heard a lot of good things about the owner's instrument repair skills.
I've gone to Big Ed's for pizza before shows a few times, but the problem is that it is always crowded on weekend nights, so getting in and out of there in time to get down to play the show is tricky. You two should try a Big Ed's and Hairspray date night..
This is the last weekend of the show. It will be Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM. The website (OAK RIDGE PLAYHOUSE) has further "deets" and online ticket orders. I've already used my two comps for that one.

Been a while since I posted here, but I wanted to give a little follow-up to my last post. To make a long story short, the old Rhythm guitar/lead singer was married to our drummer. The drummer lost interest in the band about six months ago, but stayed with the band because her husband talked her into it. She's always had timing issues, but recently they had been getting worse and she was always very defensive, as was her husband, when it was called to her attention. Finally, lead guitarist and I had enough and ended the band. Actually had to cancel one gig because she refused to play with us again and would not allow her husband to play with another drummer. We were at least able to give the venue two weeks notice to find another band. After a two week break, lead guitarist(who also sings) and I put together another band with a great drummer and a newbie rhythm guitarist. Lead guitar and new rhythm player work together and are friends, so lead guitar has taken rhythm player under his wing and makes sure he is up to speed before rehearsal. Two rehearsals and we have 32 covers down. One more rehearsal to finish adding initial material and another to get them tight and we're off and running again. Already have two gigs booked and looking for more. Cheers, East TN TB.

This is something I just have to get off my chest. If you read the last post, you know I've just been through a little band drama. While in the process of putting together another band, we were contacted by a keyboard player through our FB page, who expressed an interest in an audition. I spoke with him and we seemed to have the same goals and an interest in performing the same style covers, so I scheduled the audition. During the course of our conversation, he asked what venues we had typically been playing and what the pay was. On the day before his audition was scheduled, I called him to confirm where we were to meet so he could follow me to the rehearsal site. He didn't answer. I left a message and asked that he return my call. He did not call back. No big deal, just another flake musician, right? Fast forward to this week and I stopped by one of our more common venues to attempt to book with them. Guess who had called them trying to book a gig?
He is in a couple of Knoxville area bands and I will be glad to give you the band names and his name, if you request via PM. This was, IMO, a BS move and I sincerely hope he never gets another gig in the area.

I'm taking a break for a while after playing seven productions this year. Mainly, it's because there aren't any for a while! Also, it was just a bit too intense from June through the first week in August. I was either rehearsing or performing the entire time, one show right into another. It was a ball, and in a couple of weeks I'll be antsy to play again, but for now, the respite is NICE. 
Nope. Giving up The Hubcaps name because it says more "Oldies" and we are definitely playing more classic rock covers. New name is, tentatively, The Lost Shakers. Sounds like a Buffett tribute band, I know. We do a few Buffett tunes, but are far from a tribute band. Name is subject to change....
