Yeah, barring any last minute complications we are GOING! Should be a great show, looking forward to MV's blistering solo act during the intermission
Went to "Annie Get Your Gun" tonight featuring our own MichaelVee supporting the low end on that good looking Zenith! Really impressive venue and production, what a great gig! I want to be MV when I grow up and quit all this bar banging on the weekends!

Thanks Jeff, for all those kind words. Playing theatre shows isn't glamorous work, supporting is exactly the word I would use. The stars are the folks on stage acting. We musicians do make a very important contribution by playing, but we are pretty much the anonymous people in black slinking around the perimeter while the stars have big crowds around them in the lobbies. This production has a LOT of anonymous people in black- it is one of the biggest orchestras for a show I've worked with. The beauty of a theatre show is that we don't have to worry about forgetting lines, entrances, etc. quite like the actors do- we get to play out of a book! I do love playing theatre.
The Zenith is working well for a traditional show like "Annie". Tonight I played only the piezo pickup. It picked up every time the body shifted, so I had to turn the volume down between tunes. I am still trying to dial in a balanced, more uprightesque sound, and changed it up several times tonight. For the last half of the second act, I punched in the midrange cut button on the Shuttle 9.0 head, and although that took a lot of the character out of the sound, it was ultimately a deeper and smoother tone that sounded good to me. Generally, the EA M-Line Wizzy cab that I favor for theatre shows has a pronounced midrange emphasis that I've usually had to tame by using the mid-cut. Then it sounds terrific.
"Annie" is a surprisingly difficult show to play for me, due to a lot of cuts being made to make the score match the 1999 soundtrack recording that the cast rehearsed with. That made for many fast page turns that were awkward.
I love performing in the Clayton Center. That place is fabulous! It was great to see the Rollers there tonight. They are both warm, encouraging and friendly people. I believe this was a first for me tonight- the first time a friend and bass player has come to a musical production I've played, out of over 60 shows so far. Thanks again, Jeff.

There will be many more my friend, my wife and I love theatre, we will become your official groupies when and where we can! Awesome experience and excellent show. You guys were in the trenches so to speak, but the music was an integral part of the experience!
I still missed the blistering bass solo from intermission. First Friday night I've been to a musical production in a long time when SKYNYRD wasn't yelled out lustily between numbers!

We have a couple of private events coming up, but the next show is July 13th, Biker night at Naterz in Maryville, and then Cancun's at the Foothills Mall in Maryville on Saturday the 16th. Spicy's in Powell on the 22nd, and then a road trip to Celina TN at the Sawmill on the 23rd. Skyway in Sweetwater on July 30th.

Looking kinda bleak over the next several weeks though. Lots of good bands around the area for the size of Morristown. Some friends of ours, Hillbilly Bonez, are opening for Sammy Kershaw in about an hour at Cherokee Park.

OK guys - A little band drama going on here, so we are in need of a Vocalist in or around the Morristown/Jefferson City area. Please let me know if you have anyone you can recommend. We have bass/drums/rhythm/lead in place, so looking for a quick fix. Probably going to have to cancel a 7/30 gig.

An old friend of mine in a competing band here in the area is one of the best vocalists I know, I'll check with him tomorrow what their schedule is and if he could fill in on that date.
