East Tennessee Talkbass

Anyone coming to the GTG is welcome to play my 66 refinished P. I'll even entertain offers, but I warn you ahead of time the black spray on truck bed liner finish was added two years ago by the paint department manager here at the plant, so I consider it an expensive add on ;)

You're a nut! I think you could get yourself beaten severely by the right (wrong for you) crowd if that were true.

HAHAHAHA! Is it really coated in bed liner? Cool. I can leave my belt buckle on.

I really wish I could make it. I have friends coming in from out of town.

If we have another get together, I'd be happy to bring anything I have that someone wants to try. I just have junk to most of you, but it's my junk and I love it.

With a number of bottom dwellers in one place, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye to a g string.

I might have to take a beating! Seriously, the body is / was something else, but the electronics and the neck stamp look correct. If I deserve a beating, it was yanking the frets out of a nice '66 neck. Tuners were replaced at some point as well.

All in all, a nice Frankenfender, I would trade it for a five string Dingwall, any condition:hiding:

Seriously, I do plan to re-fret the neck at some point. I was aware when I defretted the neck I could be destroying any collectibility it had. But I knew that it was a parts bass, and needed a fretless in my arsenal at the time.

Hopefully the GTG can be a swap meet as well does anyone have a 2U rack they aren't using at the moment?

It could be. And that's one of the reasons for doing a GTG.

If we can get an idea of how many of us are planning to be there at this point, and if we're looking at ten or more of us coming, maybe those who are coming will have more motivation to bring more gear pieces to the GTG, extra items that we'd like to sell or trade. I have more than a few items like that right now.

I don't know that it'd be worthwhile to bring a lot of gear to the GTG if it's only going to be 3 or 4 of us, but yeah, like ten or more, it would be.

relocating to Ringgold GA this year - okay, I know, but hold on

only civilization within reach is Chatt (12 miles) & Cleveland, TN

whatdaya say?

Knoxville is the center of the East Tennessee Talkbass universe, so if you can drive up this way for GTG's and gigs and things, you certainly can jump in!

Come on up to Maryville on March 18th for the first GTG! It's going to be a great time all afternoon and eve.

Okay, we are settled on the date, March 18th, and the time. Here is the preliminary itinerary:

Load in: 2 pm
Event start: 2:30 pm
Close and load out ???? (depends on attendance)

Clinking of glasses and meal at Smoky Mountain Brewery afterwards.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

Address of GTG is:

1220 Brown School Rd.
Maryville, TN 37804

Many thanks to River Oaks Community Church for allowing us the floor space, electricity, PA and whatever else we need during our GTG!

Haven't played a gig since the Valentine's dance. Then we schedule the GTG on 3/18 and I book a PA gig to run 3/5 through 3/11; then the band lands gigs on 3/16 and 3/17. I'm still planning to make the GTG, though. In fact, I think we should go ahead and plan one for April since my gig calendar could use a little boost there!:D

I'll be bringing the gear in my sig to the GTG. In fact, I'll likely just leave the trailer hooked up to my Yukon and drag it along.

Hey guys!! The plans for the GTG sound great. It will be my first if I get to make it. I am scheduled to work that Sunday, but hoping to get off if at all possible!!!
Not sure if I have anything anybody would want to play, but I will bring anything I have. Just let me know if you want to hear any of this stuff:

Warwick Extreme 10.1 Amp
Two Warwick 4x10 Pro Cabs
A lot of pedals and preamps
QSC RMX 1850 HD Power Amp
Mackie 1400I Power Amp

Warwick 6 string Corvette (Duncan Bassline Pups)
Warwick 5 string Corvette (MEC'S)
SX 6 string Jazz (just got this about a month or so ago)
Warwick 5 String Rockbass Fretless (might be a Rockbass, but this thing sounds killer)!!!

Let me know guys!!! Looking forward to meeting and hanging out!!!

The GTG numbers are inching up! I don't think we'll have any problem getting over ten. It'd be great if we got twenty! That's a lot of ETTB'ers in one place.

From what several have said here, I think there is going to be a heck of a lot of variety of gear present. This will be a great opp for everyone to try out a piece of gear you've been interested in. The problem with music retailing nowadays is that most of us don't get to try out gear in a showroom before we buy it. Now's your chance!

I can't bring all my stuff, there's just too much of it to mess with, but I do plan on bringing some of the more unusual and interesting pieces. I'm getting ready to realign my amplication yet again and go all-Genz, so I'll be selling several cabs and amps here on TB. I will bring all of those to the GTG so we can try them out. Noteworthy are the two top-of-the-line 3012LF-equipped cabs from now-defunct Dr.Bass. I will have those hooked up to alternately the Genz Shuttle 9.0 and the Streamliner 900. That setup will rock someone's world at the GTG. I'll also bring a Wizzy M-line 12 and other amp goodies.

Bass-wise, probably will bring the Synapse 5, the Zeniths, the Douglas violin fretless, a G&L, the old XZ's perhaps. Haven't decided for sure on everything yet. Check my profile, and if there is anything you want to check out in person, let me know.
