East Tennessee Talkbass

I've been fortunate enough to attend the DC GTG twice, and to be honest, it was overwhelming. Too many people, too much gear to really take in.

I think whatever anybody brings would be beneficial to the group. To be honest I've played for over thirty years and haven't been exposed to very much so I'm looking very forward to getting my hands on every thing that's been mentioned so far!

Looking very much forward to it!

Man. I'm so stoked to see some of the dudes I've been talking to in threads on here are so close by. Johnson City reporting in.

I've been posting on here and buying pedals from TBers for a couple of years. I met a guy or two from playing shows, but ironically, they were all from the Northeast. I read that there's a GTG, which I have no idea what it is, but I gathered its a gear something? Is it insane to ask if I can attend? I don't know when it is or even if I can go, but I'd like to come and meet dudes. I can bring pedals galore, an amp or 2, cab(s), something. My car is beat and heavy ain't here thang. But pedals and basses. I've got some Japanese copy basses that are fun.

I'm going to the Coheed show in Knoxville, and probably the Mastodon one too. I'm running all over this spring to catch shows. My plans are to hit a Melvins/Unsane show in Charlotte, Atlanta, or Nashville as well as catch ASG/Weedeater/Cough and Alcest in my home town.

What bands are any of you in that I can check out? Do any of you play around? Dumb question. I guess what I mean is, are any of you playing around currently. We are taking a break from a lot of weekend warrioring in the southeast & tour last summer, to write a new set/album whatever. We had a lot of van trouble last year with some strandings and such. Our name is Ocoai. I think all our link info and my gear info are on my profile. I'm an effects, heavy, aggressive sounding player. I get deep into the tones and sound palettes of what I'm doing as much as the technical side. I play metal currently, I have a beard, currently, but I swear I'm not a beard metal dude. Not that there's anything wrong with beard metal or beard metal dudes. Some of my best band friends beard metal dudes.

Hope its not too forward to ask an invite to the GTG. Btw, would someone tell me what that means, LOL?

Oh no, a bearded metal dude! None of us have ever played metal here in the East TN group!

Kidding of course, I started off 23 years ago playing that stuff.... learned Anesthesia right off the bat, really helped me get some chops!

Hope you've got your Coheed tix. They went on sale yesterday and we bought them YESTERDAY, we're in the back :-/.

GTG means get-together lol.

Oh.... what's the best beard for metal?

Okay, we are settled on the date, March 18th, and the time. Here is the preliminary itinerary:

Load in: 2 pm
Event start: 2:30 pm
Close and load out ???? (depends on attendance)

Clinking of glasses and meal at Smoky Mountain Brewery afterwards.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

Address of GTG is:

1220 Brown School Rd.
Maryville, TN 37804

Many thanks to River Oaks Community Church for allowing us the floor space, electricity, PA and whatever else we need during our GTG!

Definitely gotta think about this ... !

My band was just playing in Murvul last night at Brackins.

I live in downtown Knoxville.
