My band is in need of a drummer, our current drummer's schedule has gotten too busy with work, new baby etc. His last show is august 4th. If any of you guys know of a good drummer that has good gear and transportation. The band plays country, classic rock, blues and some originals. We played nearly 80 shows last year but are slowing the pace a little bit.

Update: Found a drummer, good guy, has some experience playing live. This weekend was our current drummer's last show. We are off this weekend then 2 shows with new guy (Skyway in Sweetwater Friday night and Smoky Mountain Brewery in Maryville Saturday). Thanks to all those that forwarded information to me.

funk gen, I'll be bringing the vintage P you requested but also want you to hear the Audiokinesis Thunderchild cab. I think it's right down your alley. I was really impressed with the sound of your rig and this is a similar vibe. It's described as a studio monitor built for bass guitar. It is as neutral as a cab can be allowing the sound of the bass and amp to be the only coloring. Takes a little getting used to because you don't realize how much other cabinets add their own color till you hear one that is such a clean slate. Oh, and it's crazy powerful for a one cab speaker.

Depends on what kind of system you have. Sometimes with guitar you really want crappy speakers in the system in order to take the edge off of the brightness. That's the concept behind the Marshall stack - you get a lot of inexpensive speakers and you can really rock it and still get a very pleasant sound to the ear. You put four incredibly bright speakers in a Marshall cab and it can be too edgy for most.
But if you're one of those folks that gets their guitar tone from rack units or simulators or stomp boxes, and then the amp system just reproduces that, then yes, it will work well for that.

The Thunderchild has been used for PA speakers with great success and it's probably most popular with upright players because it reproduces that gorgeous tone uncolored.

Good point. I'm just looking forward to meeting some of you guys and hearing some new gear and sharing what I have.

Summertime is typically the hardest time to get turnout for many social events just because there are so many other things going on. Still it's good to do this and keep it going and build for the next one.

I doubt I'll be able to make it this time, I got flooded in the big storm and am still ripping stuff out of the basement & trying to make a plan to put it all back together. How do you get flooded living on a hill? So far I haven't figured that one out.

Anyway I hope you have a great time and trust that the next one will afford a chance for me to attend again.

I feel ya man. We got flooded pretty bad as well (also on a hill) The storms have been ridiculous lately. Good luck getting everything sorted out. If you need help just PM me and I'm more than happy to head your way

Meeting in the sanctuary, same as last year. There is a side door I will put a sign on that leads to the sanctuary. It's in the front in a pull around drive that makes it convenient to unload gear. I'll be there around 1:30 getting stuff moved around, we'll probably put it from 2 to 4 or 4:30, depending on how many folks show up.

2nd ET GTG was definitely smaller, but even more fun if that is possible! Less attendees = less gear = more one on one time with each other, and more time to check out and tweak all the fabulous bass gear!

BTW MichaelVee, this little ET bass players thread you started is almost 1000 posts, so it would be a good time to close this, start another, and post the pics!

Oh and thanks Richard, I now have gas pains for a wireless and that punchy little direct box you let me play with!

At least those items are affordable when you consider all the other lovely amps and basses that were present! Very impressive gear, all stuff that you don't go to a club and get to see. Or walk in Guitar Center and see for almost everything there.
