East Tennessee Talkbass

I didn't get out at all this weekend.... working nights all week (and for the last 10 years) backfired on me. Usually, I'm fine, but this weekend I slept my evenings away and was up all night :-(.

Gotta make sure I get my sleep thru the week and don't stay up late into the morning at the start of the weekend.

Sounds good, oldschool! Glad you were happy with your gig, also.

Did anybody here get out to hear the Hubcaps?

Jody- hey, you could at least have had a couple rounds and talked shop! Let's talk something else up that would work better with your schedule.

And all of us here on the East Tenn thread- let's keep talking about a GTG at one of our gigs. We'll figure something out!

Your guitarist did a great job. Nice recovery. Nice playing on your part as well. Would like to check you guys out sometime if I can get up that way.

Thanks for the nice words. We'd love to have you, or any TB'er for that matter, attend a gig. I love getting out to listen to live music, as well, so all you East TN TB'ers make sure to post your gigs on here. Never know when one of us may show up!:ninja:

Well, I moved to Memphis after I got married in June 10' so the wife could attend Pharmacy school. But we are heading back in May and I will be hitting it hard, we have to meet up! Already got some projects in the works.

Sounds great!

Check our video of Stormy Monday Blues on the YouTube channel. Our lead guitarist went insane on some solos, broke a string, changed guitars and finished. Follow the link to the FB page below to link to the YouTube channel.

Great job!

My band is playing tonight in Sweetwater TN at the Skyway. Any ET bassists wanting to check out a Dingwall Z3 and what it can do through a Phil Jones rig is welcome to come out!

I have a Ritter Roya as well, but I'm not bringing it unless someone requests I do, typically I never bring a backup.

Wish I could make it up there. Always wanted to try a Dingwall and the Phil Jones stuff is killer.

OK, ET bassists: I got an interesting call yesterday afternoon. It was from the person that does the booking at a local venue that routinely pulls in 100-150 people. Their booked band had cancelled at 4 pm and were supposed to take the stage at 9. We couldn't do it because our rhythm player/Singer is on crutches and I couldn't find another band for her. The story leads me to this: How about those of you in a band that may be able to pick up a gig like this in the future PM me with your contact info, genre, band name, etc. so if/when this happens again I can make some calls. ET BANDS ONLY, PLEASE. I will reciprocate and we can establish our own network to not miss opportunities like this. We have played this venue before and the gig would have paid around $450 (90% of the door).

I'm still working on getting the setlist together w/ the boys. The Groove Circus will be gigging in a couple months, maybe sooner.

Hey, I'm not gonna be able to transport (and it'd be overkill for a cover band) my 2 Berg NV cabinets to gigs, and I've already found my portable replacements. So..... anybody interested in my all time favorite cab, my NV215? I'm keeping the NV425 in case I someday go back to a single rig/cab setup, it's a better full range cab where as the 215 is pure thunder w/ no 10" flavors.

The Hubcaps will be back at The Moose Lodge in Morristown, this Saturday night, 3/26, if anyone's looking for something to do. Just PM me and I'll put you on our guest list. Also coming up on April 22nd, we kick off the summer event in Morristown called Fourth Friday Downtown. Main street is blocked off, old cars displayed, and a bandstand set up in the middle of it all. This will be the 4th year for the event and we've been the band that kicked it off each year. It's always a lot of fun. Also, you K-town guys keep posting your gigs on here - you never know when my wife's gonna get the Calhoun's itch..........

I'll throw out that I'm playing at LMU in Harrogate at Duke Hall in mid-April for "Nunsense". Then in late April into May, I'll be in "Hairspray" for Oak Ridge Playhouse. I'm probably on for "Annie, Get Your Gun" for Foothills Community Theatre in Maryville in June. I am talking with some guys over in Halls about joining their covers band - more details forthcoming if the gig works out.
