I gig the 7th and 8th so I know I will be dragging butt on Sunday. Nothing booked for the following two weekends this far so all good there.

For anyone that cares, stumbled across a bluegrass band in PF yesterday by the name of Monroeville. Bass player's name is Carl White. Incredible grooves and some of the tastiest fills that I have ever heard. Just an amazing bassist. If you ever stumble across him you'll know it in about 8 measures. Playing a natural 76 P with white pearl PG. easily the mid 70's P Tone that I have ever heard. Not affiliated with the band in any way. Just making conversation.

Given the diversity of availability of ETTB'ers for those three June dates, it's nice to be able to let the church decide the GTG date.

I hope that June 9 works out, but if it does, I'd miss hanging out with PDG. I'm so impressed that he drives over from Nashville for GTG's! I'm glad that we do GTGs - apparently that isn't happening in Nashville, strange as it seems. Also, it'd be a hoot to meet BagelBruin from North Carolina if he comes in. Zoomie, if we go June 9, I hope you will drag butt to Maryville.

GTG's are fun!

Hooray for Ibbys.

I love Nashville but Kingsport is where I'm from and to me there is more of a sense of community there. I enjoy re-connecting with that area.

Nashville has music and musicians everywhere. It's very enjoyable when you want to go to a club and hear an amazing band or if you need to hire someone to record. I have been able to hire and play with players who were on their way up and are now virtual studio giants. That's a thrill. But they come to my house because I pay them and that's not the same as hanging out with people who do it for the enjoyment of sharing a common bond - in this case, playing bass.
I'm not dissing the guys who play for money, I have a lot of respect for them and am appreciative that they made their talents available to my small studio. But I also enjoy the vibe of people who just love music and play just for the enjoyment.
....besides, where else am I going to get to play a Dingwall?? :hiding:

P.S. I still have family there too!

Hi, fellas, I just moved back to Maryville (my hometown) from NYC in September. I am really a guitarist, but I could supply a Stingray 4 and a Hamer 2Tek Cruisebass 5—as if all y'all haven't already played a million of each. (That's if you don't mind a relative stranger showing up.)

Do you guys jam or just check out basses?

I also know a fine drummer/audio engineer who might be available to provide beats, just in case anyone wants to play.

Just checking. And the truth is, I'd just like to meet some good players. I've noticed there are a lot more than used to live here when I left in '90.

Oh, and I used to teach at Murlin's from '86 to '90, in case any of you were here then and actually might know me.
