Our Bandleader, who’s also an avid guitar collector, loves the retro look of it, and the sound fit in very well for our blend of Beatley hard pop. She was nice enough to say my bass sound is always good, (although neither one of us thought that the one time I brought my tonally inappropiate Spector)
. She said the Rivolta’s sound reminded her of her 25 year old Hofner Beetle bass, which I played for a handful of early fab4 covers at the previous weeks rehearsal.
I discussed trying to make up my mind about keeping it, and our drummer just asked me what i thought was special about it to justify that. My take is that it has a bit of that Hofner hollowbody flavor,
and once i got accustomed to the slim neck and body ergonomics, is quite a facile player.
I surely don’t need another bass, but the style is what grabbed me, and It’s a great sounding bass to boot.
Getting it for a couple hundred off helped, and the condition is perfection. I even had an unused brand new gig bag for it, so it looks like I’m set!
Now....anyone wanna buy a Spector?
Bass is going back. 
After a second 2 hour rehearsal, I’ve just come to the conclusion I need to stick to standard scale basses. (Actually, I think it’s more about the tight string spacing than the 32” scale.)
A real shame, as I liked most everything else about the Combinata.

That’s a bummer that it didn’t work out for you, but not every bass is for every person. I appreciate your feedback on it though, and the description of the tight string spacing make it even more enticing for me. My grandma always said “there’s a pot for every lid.”
Hopefully you can put those funds towards something else cool!
Thanks! I do think it is a really nice bass overall. For the past couple weeks, I’ve played it exclusively.
Yesterday, I got out my Rickenbacker Cheyenne and just realized “this is where I live”.
Sending it back still leaves me with 10 basses, so I’m guessing the funds are just going back to my credit card.
I posted this earlier on page 3,but here’s a totally different sound.
Of course,I’m not a hotshot player like the guy in the official video, but you can at least get an idea of what the bass sounds like with flatwounds and the hot pickups lowered. I think it’s a great sound.
If you’ve not done it yet, I’d like you to demo the Rivolta next to the Serek. Especially if the Serek has B90’s.
I added one of these in Adriatic Blue Metallic to my collection several years ago. As you'd expect, I get lots of "ooh"s and "ahh"s every time I take it out of the gig bag it came with. It has a beautiful rich sound which leaves nothing to be desired. I've been very happy with it.

Well ... I never took any pictures of this bass while I had it, and now it's gone. Like many of you, I'm a collector but, with my 70th birthday just around the corner, I'm downsizing and whittling down my collection to JUST the stuff I use a LOT: my Epiphone Beatle bass, my Fender Precision, my Gibson Ripper, and a handful of verrrrrrrry excellent Squires (including my new Rascal!!).
