EBMM Experts Assemble! *** is this?

Hoping some experts can shed some light on a recent pickup I made that looks to be a parts Stingray. It came without a case from the GC used page. It was listed as a regular Stingray 4. Any ideas on where these parts came from? If any of them are actual EBMM parts?

Any info would be much appreciated!

Looks like an SBMM SUB Ray4 with a really dodgy counterfeit decal and a no-name bridge. Certainly not EBMM. How about a pic of the preamp...

@SBMM Brian, can you check out the serial#

This 100%. Even if it were an EBMM it wouldn’t have that logo unless it was a Classic or an Old Smoothie. This is neither. Hope you didn’t pay more than $200 for it.

No real deal EBMM Stingray, didn't originate from EBMM factory. Nice parts bass at best.

Wrong bridge. Wrong tuners. Wrong string tree. No San Luis Obispo or California Heritage reference on back of headstock (or any reference for that matter).

The tuners are probably the best thing about it - Schaller BM4 as used by EBMM but without the custom short shaft. The string tree looks like stock SBMM, as does it's position between E and G tuning pegs rather than below E peg.

I see it’s back listed as a real Stingray.

Just disgusting biz practices, hoping they can dupe a beginner or someone less knowledgeable.
I’m curious if the BBB would take any action seeing as how this is not a rare or one off mistake by GC.

Just one more reason this sight is a great resource. Warning others of BS like this...

Honestly, and this comes from experience working at GC, I'd be more disgusted at the person trying to sell a fake to GC and more just disappointed that the employee didn't catch it. We used to get people bringing in Skyline Laklands with the skyline logo sanded off, one dude even put a USA flag sticker over the "Made in Korea" on the back of the headstock. The GC employee I spoke to said just earlier that day a dude tried to pass off a squier partscaster with a Fender logo as a vintage Strat. Also, the listing is automatically renewed when the item is returned, though it should be removed now. GC isn't blameless because it's their employee's either lack of knowledge or motivation to ID an instrument correctly, but the malice should really be placed more on the people passing off fakes.

Fair enough, I never considered the volume of scumbags trying to scam GC, nor did I know of the automatic relisting.
However, looking at the thread warning of bad Basses & gear on GC’s used site, it seems that quite regularly, malfunctioning or misrepresented gear is often returned & resold many times over w/o GC ever correcting the problem or the listing.
I just figure If you are going to make buying & selling used equipment part of your business, it’s your responsibility to confirm you are accurately describing the item to your buyers. Whether you train your employees better, or pay someone more knowledgeable to check the instruments before listing them, it’s on the company.
(Even tho I am sympathetic to them having to deal w/ all the idiot scammers, unfortunately that comes w/ the biz. And, if they caught more, ppl wouldn’t try as many, I’d think).

**Then again I should shut up. I just got an amazing deal on a bass on the GC site, so never mind...

***Apologies for rambling on your thread...
