EBMM Gamechanger??

The bass was light. I play Classic MusicMan. When I tested the bass nothing about he weight stood out to me.

That's good, I was expecting the extra electronics to add a big of weight - I suppose its balanced out by the extra routing. I am keen to try one in a store here in the UK to see how much difference you can get out of the circuit. I am not keen on the reflex body shape but am intrigued by how useable the electronics are.

On the guitar forums people are not at all impressed with the Gamechanger guitar. I searched through this thread and haven't seen this info but it appears that there is a system that was made before this that does exactly what the Gamechanger does. Not only was Sterling aware of it but he actually had one installed in a MM guitar way before any of this came to market. The other company is suing because they have patents and Sterling is actually trying to prevent the company from saying that Sterling had used and purchased their system.

Here is the patent. It seems it is really clear cut that it describes what the Gamechanger does.

Looks like the 'legal game' is where the change will be.
Gosh, I still would love to audition this sytem for a few days - but the whole 'Gamechanger' nomenclature is so off-putting to me! Hard to deliver on such hyperbole I suppose....

Really cool idea and I can see how loads of bassist love it. For myself I barely use the active eq on my 'ray so loads of options would be moot for me.

I personally like a "keep it simple" approach to my basses. I like my EBMM Stingray because it has one pickup, no switches, and only the EQ to fiddle with. I love the sound it makes and that's why I bought it. I don't need a USB port on my bass so I can program in a ton of sounds--I only need one good one.

Or maybe I'm just getting old....

I understand what you mean, though I'm still interested in this system. Not so much so that i can get a 1,000 sounds but so that I can get that one sound that I haven't been able to find in other basses

I wonder if you can use it to wire some "oomph" back into the SR's g-string!

Yeah, if this could automagically re-align the polepieces so that they were actually centered properly under each string...that would be game-changing indeed.
