Did you sell yours and buy another one that sounded exactly the same but had body contours?
I don't buy $2000 basses, I don't buy $1000 basses.
Most of my basses are Made in USA, two are made in Taiwan, two are made in Indonesia.
The basses I buy get modified however I want to modify them.

No. I bought other brands afterwards... but I'd happily buy another ray if it had the criteria I'm looking for.... which, I think, none does. Currently I'm playing Carvin, Vietnamese Peavey, and German Warwick. I too have made money on every bass I've sold, other than the Alembic Series I, because I was a moron back then.

My basses get modified however I want them too. I'm good with electronics and setup and playability repairs. I'm not good with wood.

What's your point? I never doubted your ability. But you started listing details of what you play and what you do to them and how good you are at reselling, so I'm pointing out similar traits in myself, my collection, etc.

My point was to clarify that I don't hack up $2000 or $1000 basses (because you asked) because I don't buy basses in that price range.
Further, I said what kind of basses I do buy, and that I'm not shy about doing whatever I want to them.

Wait a sec ;-) , if YOU don't buy $1000 or $2000 basses and therefore don't hack up $2000 or $1000 basses, why did you suggest that it was a fairly straight forward thing to do (sounding like a recommendation for me to perform on my own basses), in direct reply to my post stating how my slab body USA ernie ball was uncomfortable on my arm, in particular, due to the body shape?

Your thought was that it's ok for me to hack up what, based on the description I gave here, was probably a fairly expensive bass, but it's only ok for you to do it because you don't buy expensive basses? I'm sorry that I got confused on this one, but I'm even more confused now.
**** ok ok, enough of that. Sorry, I had to ask the above because it just wasn't following the path I was reading. But I'm no a jerk, and I get that you were trying to be helpful.

So.... rather than intentionally being obtuse (like some talkbassers really enjoy doing), I will fully admit that yea, if I knew how (I don't), then I can see how modding the body to add contours etc would be doable, and cool, on a cheaper bass. AS a DIYer myself, I'm all about doing whatever you can to make something as good as it can be.

I just would never do it to a pricey instrument... and i kinda thought you were suggesting that it should be done to, for example, the stingray classic series... which are very, VERY, expensive instruments, slab body and all. It's clear that you didn't mean that kind of bass, so now I getcha

That big flat edge on a slab is super nice for resting your arm on. A pointy top edge contour implies pick playing to me.
