I think it's due to the fact that the A and D poles are raised so much higher than the G's and the G string has substantially less mass than the other strings.What causes the "weak G" issue that I've heard so much about?
Is it a bad pickup? Because mine works perfectly. I have 10+ other non-EBMM basses (and a few other Balls) to compare it too, so I'm not just imagining there's no issue.
I'd contact the company and get something done.
I've heard of people taking the pickup out and pushing the pole piece of the G string out. Sounds like a quick fix but I just haven't gotten around to that yet.
