Yeah, it's kind of odd that they didn't use the bass as the soundtrack for the ad. Cool visuals, though.

Yes, I agree. I think it borders on the verge of dangerous at times and you can get some really funky (not good funky) sounds if you aren't careful. However, having all the headroom is really great.
My Sire bass (P7) has an 18 volt pre-amp, but it doesn't seem nearly as powerful as the MM. Don't get me wrong, it certainly does the job in the Sire, it just isn't nearly as powerful IMO.
I would never mess with anything on the SR Special except maybe a new pick-guard. It is too good as is, otherwise.
It’s not the company’s fault. There’s lots of great European guitar manufacturers though. Let’s try to keep “hate” and international politics out of this. This ain’t Facebook.

The USA prices don't include state tax.
They also don't have to account for international shipping, import duty, or exchange rates.
You aren't going to get the instrument any cheaper by picking it up in America, and baby sitting it on a plane back home, unless you get really lucky with customs officials not checking if anyone has anything to declare (it happens), and if you're forced to put it in checked luggage, who knows what state it will arrive in.
Importing luxury goods always comes at a premium - I remember how prohibitively expensive Mesa Boogie bass rigs were in the UK in the early 90's (Ampeg were the higher end of affordable back then). Conversely, for American bassists Trace Elliot bass rigs were equally as nausea inducingly priced.
Economy of scale is another factor (EBMM is a tiny company, compared to Fender, or Ibanez), but a luxury import is almost always going to cost more than a local product, wherever you are.
If buying it in the US and bringing it back with you won’t save you any money, do you hate the company or your government’s taxes?
I agree I’ve found the tonal possibilities to be a bit tamer than my pre 2018 stingrays.
Yeah, the pricing of export Music Man products is less than buyer friendly. Your issue may be with the distributor, Musik Meyer GmbH, the distributor, rather than with the manufacturer, Ernie Ball Music Man. Additionally, VAT common in European countries is often included in retail pricing where the U.S. sales tax is added on. And lastly, a small point: Sterling by Music Man is not a subsidiary of Ernie Ball Music Man; they have separate ownership and operations. But go ahead and hate Music Man if you must.

So last week I went to my Local guitar shop and tried the EBMM Stingray Special 4HH in Sunburst/Maple.
and it was literally Jaw dropping. Couldn't believe how light it was and how nice, smooth and enjoyable the neck was. The finish was impeccable and the sounds, O my G!! So many possibilities!!
Anyway, when I walked out the store I was already calculating how I would arrange one to myself!!
Today, I pulled the trigger on this lovely one below and ordered it. Should take a couple of months to get it. But hey, my trusty white Cutlass is one my best friend right now. Just felt I had to bring a hyperactive little sister to her.
I have to say it took me a while to figure out which color I'd buy. They're all so beautiful!!

I bought a Burnt Copper 4HH a month ago and my best friend is insanely jealous.
