I haven’t been able to find a bad tone. Even cranking the knobs
I need to Futz with my EQ, because I have it dialed in for my other bass/basses. I wasn't being critical, just that it seems like it can be touchy to me.

So I just read (in another string) that roasted necks are supposed to be more stable (than non-roasted).... is that true?
So last week I went to my Local guitar shop and tried the EBMM Stingray Special 4HH in Sunburst/Maple.
and it was literally Jaw dropping. Couldn't believe how light it was and how nice, smooth and enjoyable the neck was. The finish was impeccable and the sounds, O my G!! So many possibilities!!
Anyway, when I walked out the store I was already calculating how I would arrange one to myself!!
Today, I pulled the trigger on this lovely one below and ordered it. Should take a couple of months to get it. But hey, my trusty white Cutlass is one my best friend right now. Just felt I had to bring a hyperactive little sister to her.

I have to say it took me a while to figure out which color I'd buy. They're all so beautiful!!
that was really tough
I think I can now consider myself as an EBMM addict![]()
I guess that’s my point. I don’t find it touchy at all. YmmvI need to Futz with my EQ, because I have it dialed in for my other bass/basses. I wasn't being critical, just that it seems like it can be touchy to me.

Nice! I have the 5 string version of that (and a Cutlass). Welcome to your new addiction! You’re not alone
Thank you very much!! yeah we already are members of the illustrious Cutlass/Caprice club!! I guess we'll soon be reunited here again!!
BTW, that's my beloved Cutlass, see the resemblance?View attachment 3377295
Yeah, but if your non-roasted neck is decades old, it's probably not as prone to seasonal changes, and any residual resin has stabilised.
Forgive the simple question, what strings and gauge ship with the Stingray 5 Special? They sound great. I could experiment, but I like what I am getting from the stock strings. Thanks!

Yep. And that's what I'm keepin' on mine. … For now…
Tried a bunch of different strings on my EBMM's thru the years and keep comin' back.
To each their own, my friend. That's why there are sooooo many. The stock Slinky’s sound great. But I’m loving the cobalt flats.

Just got it today and it's been hard to put down. I'm in love!View attachment 3378014
A Stingray through a Rat into any rig at any volume will sound pretty gnarly...How is it at 11?

The regular slinky's sound amazing. But for me they only last for a couple of months. Then they die really quick!Forgive the simple question, what strings and gauge ship with the Stingray 5 Special? They sound great. I could experiment, but I like what I am getting from the stock strings. Thanks!
