Out of curiosity, I'm assuming that it's not as simple as adjusting the prong(s) on the jack?

Also, which part needs to be the same color? From what I can tell looking at the jack on my Special and others on the Internet, all of the basses with black hardware seem to use a jack where the nut and mounting plate are black, but the threaded portion is a chrome/silver color. Is yours different?

What I was told was that the jack insert came as a complete unit being a barrel jack. Didn’t seem right to me - I thought it would be simple as you describe - but back it went and part ordered. I’m happy to be told otherwise!

Being south of Melbourne in southern Australia, a simple call to EBMM is not so simple.....

Interesting. I wouldn’t think EBMM would use different jacks here and there, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility. All three of my SR5s (Special, 30th Anniversary, and an ‘88) use the exact same type of enclosed jack (see images from my SR5 Special), but you can certainly get in there and they’re definitely not barrel jacks.

Either way, I hope you get it worked out sooner rather than later :bassist:

My thoughts, as well. Now, Bongos, they use the barrel jack — no mount plate.

Ain't that the truth! My other two SR5s have been completely neglected play-wise since getting the 5H Special. And now, I have a 5HH Special inbound. :bassist:
