Those are the exact same ones I have on my P bass. I've had Rotosounds 66, DR Hi Beams, Low Riders, Pure Blues, Slinkys and GHS Boomers on there and the D'Addario Pro Steels have been my favorite and have lastest the longest tonewise. I have another new set waiting for the P but I think I'm going to give them a shot on the StingRay. The thing is I really love how the Slinkys sound on the Ray but I can't afford to replace the strings every week. I wish you could purchase individual strings instead of having to buy a whole set. The E string is the only one that has lost its punch at this early stage. I may take it off any try to clean it really good with alcohol and then put it back on. Would be nice if you could just buy a set of four E strings or whatever.

You can get single EB strings here but I don't know whether prices are good or not, depending on how much it costs to buy a whole set where you live.

Got mine today, and boy does it growl! Expected a little bit more low end though, but a string change to 45-105-130 will probably change that. Also, Is the huge space between the pickup and the strings contributing to the Stingray sweet spot?

These neodymium pickups are stronger than on previous Rays so it's important not to get the pole pieces too close to the bottom of the strings or you could get a choruslike warble effect from the magnets constantly pulling on the strings. The pickups come set up from the factory with proper spacing. They take a lot of pride in what they do at San Luis Obisco and it shows.

I think it was just a slightly custom spec. Snagged it second hand on here! Wanted a "workhorse" special as pinky is not leaving the house ever
Ah ok cool. I did the same with my most recent sr special that I got. I too don't know if I will be bringing my pink champagne sr to any gigs any time soon.
Finally decided on a new pickguard, white just wasn't cutting it for me. Black ice was a really good choice.
Where are you guys getting these awesome pick guards from? Are they a direct fit?
You can get the from MM, though they only offer limited colours.
MM website, they only have black, white, white pearloid, white ice, and black ice.
I didn't think I'd like the white pearl pick guard that much on my Maroon Mist but after seeing in person it grew on me quick. I have not even taken the plastic off it yet but once I do I think it will hide scratches better than if I had the solid white. I think that black ice would look really nice on my Maroon Mist. Speaking of scratches on pickguards, maybe it's doesn't bother most people but they drive me nuts! I am constantly trying to polish them out with scratch polish on my other basses. Why can't someone come out with a scratchless pickguard? The top of my tablet that I am typing this on never ever scratches.
