Not sure if this has been discussed, how do you go about re-wiring the pickups to switch between series / parallel? It looked straight forward till I seen how the bridge pickup was connected to the board...with 3 wires. I assume that you have to split the ground on the neck pickup to add an additional connector for the other coil, and add a DPDT switch to engage series / parallel.....but then you wire them back to the board the same way? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I hear ya. I have 2 SR Specials with the HH configuration and it is great. It does give me an appreciation for the single H though. You can still get a lot of tones with that one pickup with the 3 band eq.

I wish they made a 5r. I’m looking to add a fretted SRS5 and I would definitely pull the trigger on one if it was available

The way things are going with MM, I don’t doubt that for a second.Although I am leaning towards the Ghost Pepper, I have a thing for candy apple red. Gunna see if I can snag one during a Black Friday sale

I did a different mod



(later on, I also swapped the coils in the bridge pickup, imagine what it did...)

I seen this mod, you sent me the info and I plan on utilizing it, Thank you.

It seems like it should be possible to add a switch to go between parallel and series on both pickups and utilize the mod you have for the 4th coil, adding some additional tonal flexibility. My confusion for the most part is wiring it back up to the PCB.....not sure how t

Thanks, I read every post here over the last 2 days and no Maroon Mist to be seen anywhere. So far I'm loving it. I really had a hard time deciding between the H and HH but I'm a purist and like things simple and was really going for that signature Stingray sound plus I have other basses. Some of the reviews U-tube, and posts seem to suggest the HH though more versatile in tone with 5 settings to mess with didn't quite hit the signature StingRay sound in setting one (parallel) quite as well as the H does with just one setting and pickup so that's what I went by. One buys a StingRay to have it sound like a StingRay. Can't believe how light this thing is. I haven't officially weighed it but comparing to my other basses it has to be in the lower part of the 8 lb range. I noticed right away that the E string carries some real weight with superb clarity. The set up came near perfect. Tuners and knobs all smooth as butter, fretwork fantastic. I may lower the strings a tad but that's about it. The smell of this thing with the roasted maple is delicious.

That's the first Maroon Mist I've seen on here other than mine. Besides having a difficult time deciding H or HH I had a horrific time picking a color and choosing a fret board wood. I originally wanted a maple fret board and nearly had my mind set on a Pacific Sparkle color with maple neck but it was not going to be available for a few months and the more I looked at it each day the more I grew tired of it. I decided the key was to find a color I would not get tired of so quickly, so I downloaded all the colors and fret board combos that interested me and looked at them on my tablet for weeks. What else are you going to do when your stuck at home with this crazy virus going on? Charging Green, Dropped Copper, Burnt Amber, Maroon Mist, Burnt Apple and Ghost Wood were the contenders and I finally after weeks decided I liked the Maroon Mist with the rosewood neck the best, but really could have been happy with any of them. I was a bit concerned that the rosewood neck may be too warm sounding and not have the cutting bite I wanted in a StingRay that I heard with the roasted maple neck on u-tube, but after playing mine with rosewood that concern is now completely gone. This thing rips through lead walls if you want it too! The bass and EQ are so well implimented that I find a flat setting sounds about ideal most of the time, and every now and then just a slight tweek.
