Am I missing something, the bridge seems to me to not be a whole lot different from older ones. Yea having to be careful during restring has always been a thing but when I do it I put one of my fingers between the body and string when pulling it thru. No big deal.

Yeah… You're missing something. Like about 1/2 lb. of stainless steel. Really? The bridge reminds me of the Trev Wilkinson one that was on my old '92 Carvin. Actually… now that I think about it… that one was better. I didn't have to put nail polish in it until it was about 5 years old.

Yep. For two years this month. It's the naked one in the middle.

It's a nice bass in most every other regard, which is why I still have it, but that bridge… is junk.

As far as the price of Specials is concerned, it's in the same area as the Fender Ultra line, and I'd say the Specials are at least as well made (probably better).

I've read a ton about the Specials on TB (I expect to get one in the coming months) and this is the very first time I've heard a complaint about the bridge. Mileage clearly varies.

I currently have 4 SR specials and I have had absolutely zero problems with the bridge. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never had any issue with a MM bridge and I'm up to 6 MM basses right after selling my Old Smoothie.

I would agree, hard to see what would be the complain about that bridge, simple, looking good and does the job very well

About the bridge... Read back through the thread, I think I complained about it some time ago. My issue was with the height of the adjustment screws in the saddles. I couldn't get them to go low enough, and had to get shorter screws at Ace hardware. The problem is that the threaded holes in the saddles don't go all the way through. EBMM could easily solve the problem by threading the top hole so the screw could go through the top as well. Seems dumb to me.

I had the same issue, called Ernie Ball and ordered enough to match the E,A,D string with the screws in the B, G strings. Total cost delivered $ 6.00
