Another on my list…however they maybe higher tension than my hands like? I usually need to stick with round cores
That really hasn’t been an issue for me. I like low action so it’s less of an issue. I don’t find them overly high in tension. But I use 45-100 and 130. If you go for a heavier set like 50-105 then it might be a problem. Or if you like higher action and need to push down more.
I’ve been playing my white special more and more and it’s getting to the point where I’m looking at another one just to have a spare to keep at different locations. Almost all the music man finishes are incredible, and they sound so good! They really hit the mark these last few years.
I sold off all my other basses. Went from 6 to 2 basses. The 5HH and the 4H. Feeling great about it
It is also really helpful to have basses with the same pickup, preamp and strings because I use effects a lot and now I don't have to change settings as they react the same with either bass.
Tortoise shell pickguard ordered from EBMM. Will post pics when it comes in. Still probably will try clear as well.

That pretty much confirms it for me. I think the single h bass sounded a little bit brighter but that could be due to variation in the neck or body wood. To me the difference between the 2 basses would not be heard in a full mix though.
I have no use for the HH model. Been there , done that. The Original sweet spot single H is what makes me smile.
I’m not sure I heard much of a difference, not enough to be heard in my band mix.
That being said, I’ve owned three HH Stingray 5s and still have two of them, so maybe my brain wasn’t going to let me conclude my choices have been wrong?
I do use all five switch positions on a typical gig, though. So I don’t hear enough of a tone difference to want to give up the flexibility of the different pickup configurations.
But, vive la difference!

I have both. My 5HH bridge pup is ever so slightly deeper than the 4H but I don't believe that has as much to do with the electronics as it does with the added mass of the 5 string vs the 4 string.
Either way the difference is so miniscule as to not make much of a difference.
It is funny that I prefer the look of 2 pickups on the 5 string and the look of 1 pickup on the 4 string.
It's all about the 5H for me. I love being able to switch to series.

They really need to make a Sterling Special HS. I would be all over that.
