Just caught some cool lighting at work yesterday of my bass with the sunset light coming through. I really like the second pic where it looks like the bass has an blue top on an orange body:

I really like what Ernie Ball does with their finish offerings and BFR models.
Hard to believe that's the same bass!
Not to give good kids bad ideas, but .....
If you bought a bass with that finish then you could probably sneak several basses into the house and say, "No, it's not a new bass, it's just how the color reacts to different light from different directions. See?".
I don't operate that way (seriously, I don't) but in case someone does ....
Hi all, I've had my StingRay Special 4H for a few years now and still don't really know how, when, or why to use the mid control. I previously had a pre-special 'Ray 4H and a Modulus FU4 (OBP3), and 'struggled' with the same thing. For me, I feel the MM sweet-spot has enough mids baked in, especially with a maple fretboard and fresh (or fresh-ish strings). A little bass and treble boost/cut to taste seems to do the trick for me most of the time.
How are you all using the mid control? I think that with the new preamp and pickup, the specials would sound good with the traditional volume, bass & treble boost only layout (I don't feel the vintage MM treble idiosyncrasies are important for this discussion).
For reference, I use super slinky rounds, 0.008-0.010 relief, and 3/32-2/32 action - I dig in a good bit.

If you are getting the sound you want, I wouldn't worry about it.
I use the mids all the time, I find boosting the mids and rolling off the treble to sound great. Likewise when I boost the treble, I usually cut the mids slightly too. Sometime I just leave it flat too
But I love mids

i just bought a used 2017 stingray and It sounds great but it’s heavy. I’ve played the newer stingray specials at guitar center and I’m extremely impressed. They’re super light. And the 18v thing is cool too.

If it is a stingray special it should be lighter. That was one of the new design changes. Still the weight varies. My 5 is 8.9 lbs. Pretty nice! And I've seen lighter

Not sure but the color doesn’t really work all that well with this bass. What do y’all think?
Something about the yellow color in the tort isn't quite right for me either.
Clear would look so much better.
