I also had LaBellas on my mainstay 1995 American P-Bass, and kept them on until I sold it a decade later, as well as a 1974 Jazz. Great strings.

EBMM StingRay Special Club

In my personal opinion, TIs shine on a bass that has a traditionally brighter tone, like Jazz/Stingray, because they are kind of bright but smooth. I didn't love them on my P bass, a little too loose. They shine on a bass you like to play towards the bridge because the tension is just right with TIs in that area. They are too floppy played over the p pickup.
Yes, my Specials quickly became my favorite StingRays, but I still play my two-bands quite a bit. I have a couple 3-bands that haven't been getting much, or any, attention, but I'm hanging onto them for the time being.
I’ve owned 2-band and 3-band SR5s in the past.
All I own now is the Special 5H. No regrets whatsoever. I love its tone.
And no one I work for, record for, or play for will ever tell me “That Special doesn’t sound as good as your older 2-band or 3-band Stingrays”
Really glad to have my new Special. It’s already a hit with my clientele.
(and I’m fortunate to have never had a producer or leader tell me to bring a Precision. I would if it paid well enough..,.)
BT13 from the new batch was delivered a few minutes ago, so I can confirm: they do exist. Not sure why they're not on Hipshot's site yet. Maybe they have to fill all the orders for brick and mortar stores first (like mine came from). My contact at the store is buddies with him, so I guess that must have helped get it early.

I got mine for $1600, mint condition about a year ago.
But I think more realistically you're looking at $1700-2000 bucks nowadays...
Be patient and I hope you snag one!

every week for years until the last month or so I been “forcing” myself to play the American pro p 5
When playing my Crescendo 5HH I notice that position 2 and 3 seem to suck the life out of my low B. No matter how I eq it.
For me it’s 1 or 4 on the HH.

This far I’ve not run into that. I like 2 a lot, but steer clear of 3 generally. I feel this is something you likely investigated, but I’ll risk it: Perhaps it’s pickup height or angle? Something on that closet-to-the-neck coil?

This will displace my Fano JM4 Standard/EBMM Sterling. I'll be down to two perfect basses for my bands (along with my special run American Standard jazz with all rosewood neck).

I read that thread just yesterday while waiting for my fiancés car to get finished at the mechanic. Any word on what color and fretboard options are available or is it anything you want so long as it’s black with rosewood?
My Stingray Special [New Burnt Apple] arrived Friday;
First the Good News; Fit, Finish, Neck feel, Tuners and overall look Great
Now the Bad; First the case sent with it is a generic G&G no MM label similar to what Sweetwater sales for $185
and had a couple blemish marks; no big deal case sits under Bed; have decent Gig Bag for travel to Rehearsal and Gig's. The cases that came with my EBMM 25TH [aka Reflex] and Fender Ultra far superior.
It came with neck having back bow frets 1-7 awful sound; set it to my preferred .008 good to go;
That put Action at a little over 6/64ths E and 5/64s G [Close to EB suggestions] the playability felt a little uncomfortable since my last few basses were set at 5 & 4 [64ths]
I played it as is and sound was not what I expected even when I dug in no Stingray pop or coherency.
checked Pickup height it was good 6/32
So I lowered action to my preferred 5&4 there was the Stingray Pop and coherency[but had to have very light touch for clean] from Frets 1-7 but after that is was random Buzz and 'fret outs'; tried relief at .010 no change
Now with both 25TH Anniversary and Fender ultra even a setting of 4/64ths E and 3 G was clean up and down neck all 4 strings.
To keep a long story short [sorta] I spent quite a few hours fussing with it and ended up at a tad under 6/64ths & 5/64ths with tweaking A&D Strings for perceived volume match all strings and radius match for proper playability and feel.[
I can get nice clean sound with my normal attack and Pop when I dig in from frets 1-18 which is enough then it is random 'Fret outs' on 19-22 mainly D&G strings.
I don't do much Slap or any Tapping/Chording so extra low action is not necessary and I may be able to handle a little higher than I am used to
But if I try to sell it the next person might find low Action Important and we all know what these cost.
So I will try a little more with it but it looks like it is going back

I ordered one of the <new> pastel colors with matching headstock. I didn't talk any other options other than the 1.5" nut. I was surprised that they're taking even this request, but since they aren't producing EBMM Sterlings or SLO Specials they may just be making a special accomodation. Regardless, I greatly appreciate it. My guess is if you're looking to customize like the old days they'll be less interested.
They created an order page that looks like one of the Vault items with the new StingRay Special in pastel and a 1.5" nut. It was more expensive (on the order of 10% more) than the normal version.
