EBMM StingRay Special Club

View attachment 5158408 Two Q:
Does a first year DarkRay count as qualifying for this thread?

In dire need of a Hipshot BT13 bass side black clover, the gents at Hipshot are saying supply issue will take months. Anyone holding?
I’m not hearing months on the BT13, but I’ve been hearing “any day now” for a few weeks now….:D

music_man This limited edition Stingray 5 Special features a lightweight ash body in a beautiful Burnt Ends finish. The oil and wax finished figured roasted maple neck with maple fingerboard is accented with black block inlays. Equipped with dual humbucking pickups, 18V 3-band EQ Preamp, and 5-way switch, this bass delivers a variety of tonal options. Available exclusively in the Vault!

Summer is almost over . But it’s still hotter than July in most places. I was thinking that fall should be here soon. I wonder if we will get a Fall or Winter 2023 BFR Run.
My anticipation is high because of all the wonderful Vault offerings.
If they do another Old Smoothie offering, I might have to go for it. Anything with sparkles will also be quite tempting.

Im really hoping they plan to revamp their entire color offering. I feel like they were rotating the colors very frequently the first few years after the release of the Specials and have mostly kept to the same mix for the past couple years. None of the current mix do anything for me.

Years ago when the EBMM site was more active, fans would write in to suggest colors for the next model year. Some would complain that a color was only used for a year or two and disappeared. Sterling would then reign over the kingdom and complain that no matter what people asked for, they only bought black.
I don't like the new pastel colors at all.

Agreed. The pastels do nothing for me.

I know black will always remain in rotation. I keep saying I’d like to see honey burst, trans amber, and similar colors again. Heck, I’d love to see Starry Night, natural, and aqua sparkle make a return for the specials, but maybe with a SLO neck. There are a number of finishes I’d buy today if they were available.

For the first time ever, I think Fender has a better color lineup than MM.

He would know better than anyone but i call ******** on that lol. I think Black and natural should always be mainstay colors, but to me, the finish options are one of the main attractive points to the special for me (obviosuly theres like 20 other reasons but most of the finishes are great). They are even kinda known for having good sparkle finishes, and based off what we see on talkbass... not all bassists are here but i feel like alot of the customer base willing to spend that much on a stingray have representation here... i feel like black is in the minority of the new acquisitions i see posted here.

I too am not a fan of the flat 2023 easter pastel colors, all their other finishes are slightly sparkly bursts, full on sparkle, or just interesting finsihes, an then all 4 of the new finishes end up just being a completely flat color was a letdown for me. If they would have put those 4 colors out then 4 new burst / gradient / sparkle finishes i don't think the pastel colors would have been as dissapointing. Selfishly i had a sigh of releif when i say at least they didn't get rid of last years colors before my order comes in... but for a bass that price with a factory that big, i can't see why they can't make significantly more finishes or just keep adding finishes instead of cycling them.
