EBMM StingRay Special Club

Wanted to post this here as there have been many threads regarding Guitar Center woes and issues dealing with them. I have been looking for a used SR special for about a year. Never found anything that was in my price range that was what I considered a "decent buy" for my situation. Then recently, I stumbled upon this beautiful bass in the "used' section of GC. It was produced in May 2022, and was sitting for sale at the GC north of San Diego. I was concerned about buying something sight unseen, and had my GC issues as there is one 7miles from my house. The bass was a year young and listed for $1800 and change. I decided to take a chance and called the store. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant and extremely helpful, down to taking additional pictures and describing the bass. The bass was packed in its original hard shell case professionally. It arrived in 5 days after a cross country trip and there is not a scratch, ding or even a smear on it. It is impeccable. I plugged it in and no scratchy pots, bad Pre-amp or any electrical problems. Tuners, bridge were spot on. Relief was excellent, low action and the bass played absolutely beautifully right out of the case. The neck is phenomenal.
I am pleasantly surprised and have to tip my hat to the GC personnel in CA. I have been a nay sayer in the past about GC and their customer service, but this time they hit it out of the park. I signed up for the card and they knocked another 10% off. So I now own my very first SR special, a year old, flawless, for $1730. Very satisfied.

That is more than a great price easily 300 to 400 below the going market. Enjoy

Many of us deal with too any choices by owning more than one. But if your favorite is burnt apple and they happen to have brought back, go for it. Get ti while the getting is good. Might not be able to get it but for a limited time. All of them have Sparkles except the raspberry . Personally, Id go for the Burnt Apple, Snowy Night, or Smoked Chrome in that order. Maple has some nice snap!! Brings out that Stingray STING!!!

Just ordered Burnt Apple Today:D

Congratulations! I too have had great experiences with Guitar Center online.

Just as a PSA, I'll be listing my Stingray Special 5 HH in Smoked Chrome here shortly, if anyone is interested before it goes 'public'. I absolutely love this bass but, I happened across a Mike Lull M5 locally that I couldn't believe I found by accident, so this must be offered up as a sacrifice lol.
Roasted maple neck, ebony board, all black H/W, black 'matching' headstock, pristine pickguard, near perfect shape except for a small dime-sized ding on the top (not the face) of the body, approx. between the Bridge pickup and Bridge itself. Honestly you can't even see it, if it wasn't pointed out, but otherwise it's pretty minty. It happened with me standing up too quickly at my desk, practicing, and just hit the underside of my keyboard tray, so didn't fall over or anything.
Just setup with Kalium strings and 2x fresh Duracell 9Vs, so it's ready to party. EB HSC and case goodies.

PM me with any interest!

I don't want to jinx it but this will begin a 6000 miles journey to me tomorrow :hyper:

Lovely!

I have a Vintage Tobacco Burst as well, though it's a 5HH model. I was lucky that the original owner put on a tort guard on it but also included the original white pickguard and a brand new, unused parchment pickguard as well. So I can change the look quite a bit without having to spend money on yet another new bass! :D

You're going to love it. The longer I have this Special (it's now about 15 months) the more I love mine. They're outstanding basses.

Thank you. I'm going to order a black pickguard but there seem to be none available in Europe other than at Thomann, Germany. Although Ebay is awash with Stingray Special short scale pickguards; does anyone know whether they fit the long scale SR Special? Cheers.
Nope. Short scale has 7 screws, long scale has 9. I got my black pick guard from here a few months ago on a rec made in this forum. Fits perfectly.
