EBMM StingRay Special Club

Perhaps you can get some white side dots to add to the side of the neck or even to cover up the black dots on the fretboard. I think they have some glow in the dark dots that can be added as well. My Sandberg has luminay dots on the side. Im not certain if it's possible, but adding those might be an option too.
Thanks. Yeah, I've been thinking of going that route with the two black-dot Specials and most definitely my AO Precision Bass. I bought some kind of cheesy little dot appliques at an art store, but I may search for something nicer looking online.

I played out with my new amber Special again Friday night, and had some difficulty seeing the black side dots on the roasted maple neck on the dark stage. Anybody else experiencing this? It's not as bad as on my American Original Fender '60s Precision Bass, but still kind of an issue.
Same issue here. I got some JSITON Glow in The Dark Tape and a small paper punch on Amazon. Works pretty well. Tape doesn't mar the neck but is not a permanent fix. Occasionally, I have to replace a couple dots here and there when I oil it but, heck, I gotta whole roll of the stuff! LOL!

Well, my jonesing for a Hipshot Xtender got the best of me....

I was searching the 'net for BT13s a couple of times a week for a couple of months now. I kept hearing of folks getting out of the factory with a BT13 one way or another. But the site still listed them as unavailable. Oscar kept saying he had the parts and was building them, but uppers wouldn't let him advertise them until a bunch were built. Argghh.....

So last night, I searched again. This time, some BT13s showed up on Ebay. Great! It's from a seller in Spain. Hmm..

Well, the seller had 100% positive feedback. The BT13s are guaranteed new, good return policy. The shipping was estimated at 10-14 days. Hey, why not?

So I have a BT13 on the way for my Stingray Special 5H.

I just wonder if Hipshot USA would honor a warranty claim on a BT13 bought from Spain...:roflmao:

(that was supposed to be funny....)

Nice.

The top video reinforced my preference for Position #4 - inner coils. But I liked his sound in Position #2, outer coils, than I get. I still like and use #2 but, at least at this time, it's the one I use the least. Although, ttat does change from time to time.

Doesn't affect my love for #4, though. That's still my go-to, my default, my favorite.

He even managed to make #5 sound pretty good. I think a lot of it has to do with technique, strings, and pickup height.

Fingerboard and body wood pairings really make a difference to me with these basses. I didn't get along with the ebony /ash combo. Probably because it tends to be brighter and lean more towards the pre Specials . That combo really can cut like knife . I did not like anything really but #1 and it had to have flats when I had ebony/ash combo.

Cobalt Flats question how many of you have had the rust issue?
Not a flats guy but after seeing the Congo is now at least charging market value for colbalt I feel slightly more comfortable ordering a set to try on my PJ IV.
Not me. I have them on my 5H and 5HH. The set in my 5H is 3 years old. I had them on my Fender Geddy Lee before that bass. I used to use a Slinky Round on the low B but ordered a single Low B after a month or 2 of getting that bass.

You have 2 very nice Ernie Balls listed for sale. I hope you are keeping something nice to play.

The EBMM Caprice is my go to passive 4 and I also keep my EBMM Big Al 4, those will stay mainly cause they're discontinued. For the 5...my Zon has stolen my heart, but let see what sells or stays, maybe the Stingray will stay eventually (I probably hope for that)

I've had several sets and never had the issue. They sound REALLY good if you put a little Eucerin cream on them, if you want them to sound a little less bright. May even protect from rust, LOL.
