I’m excited.
Still searching for the perfect strap.

I'm totally OCD about having the "right" strap for each of my basses.

I've settled on DSL Straps made from Australian leather. They have a great range of styles and colours. I have 8 of them...

I got to my gig last night with barely enough time to get set up, so I didn't get any pics, but from the first note, the 'Ray's just killed! Had issues with my power amp and my wireless, but the basses were on point all night. I actually played the 4 as much as the 5, which I never do. I spent most of the night trying to find a go to setting, but they all sound great! I did discover that I do actually dig the bridge pup solo'd. I know that's THE SR sound, but I've never been the biggest fan of that sound. It worked for me a few times last night.

First gig experience-

That midrange on the soloed bridge pickup is the knife. It sounds soooooo good

Just had another rehearsal with the TIs on. The stickiness is getting better. The guys I play with love the way they sound and I have to say I do too. Not ready to quit them yet.

Break them in and they’ll last you 2 bass players lifetimes .

I hope they maintain the midrange bump. That’s what I like about them.

I’ve been using that soloed bridge pup a lot lately as well. It has really grown on me.

From what I understand the TI flats have a very long lifespan. Hope yours work out!

Fun shopping. Can’t wait to see the prefect strap! I recently got an Italia strap and like it very much.

I think the new SRS sounds better. But then again I'm biased towards more vintage-sounding instruments

Almost. You can tame the old StingRay into Special territory, but it just doesn’t get that organic tone of the Special.

I still think the old school 2 band preamp Stingray sounds the best
But I like the tone of the new ones too, probably more than the previous 3 band version, which I still like.

Yes. And I’m saying the opposite, perhaps not so clearly. Old ‘Ray can get close to the Special, but the Special just can’t get as aggressive as the old ‘Ray. Well, maybe, with some aggressive external EQ.

You can’t get as zingy as the old Ray with its treble cranked, but I hated that sound. If you boost the treble on the Special it gets into that sonic territory but not in a Korn klangy way.

I hear you. I find the older ‘Rays more aggressive overall, no matter the settings, and the Special smoother, more organic. I’d say the old StingRays growl and snarl, and the new ones purr. There is just a coarser grain to the old ‘Ray tone.
