Ok so I just strung up the TIJFs and first impressions are really really good. I’ll know more after tonight but I like the clarity compared to most flats. They seem to (with this bass) to have the clarity of rounds without all the extraneous noise. They’re not as smooth under the fingers as LaBella tapes (but nothing is). The tension is really not all that low. It’s just about right. Probably pretty close to the Super Slinkies that come on this bass.At the moment my playing out is primarily w jazz combos.
At first I wasn’t using my SRS because it seemed too...aggressive?...or something. But I’m more used to it now and it seems to fit in OK.
The TI flats are strong on the fundamental and still ring out, beautifully, for chordal passages. I haven’t tried other flats on it so can’t compare.
I haven’t tried it in a rock setting but I imagine it would work just fine.

Both awesome. I find my Aqua is more glittery by quite a lot in person than maybe all but 1 pic I’ve seen online. What do you think of the colour in person?
So, this is how my night went after I finally made it home.
Boxes. Really big boxes...View attachment 3216128
So, I got my handy dandy box cutter and opened the big boxes, and I found...

I'm not gonna sit here and rehash what you guys already know. I've been playing them since I got them out of the cases, and I'm thrilled! I played through part of our setlist and it was AWESOME!
My main "issue" now, is I'm going to hafta figure out what settings are gonna be my go to settings. Literally, every knob twist and switch flip sounded like a sound I could use! The narrower spacing will take a lil bit to get back on board with, but everything else is KILLA'! If any manufacturer wants to know how to take an iconic design, and make it BETTER, they just need to call the folks at EBMM, 'cause they figured it out! Well done, EBMM!
I wonder if I can get a hoodie or a t-shirt... @Scott Ball ?

I had one years ago. It's very different in my opinion. I never really cared for the L2K bridge pickup soloed. Obviously that isn't the case with the Stingray. I think that the G&L is a very nice bass but it's going to be a lot different from the SRS. Mostly the difference is in pickup placement and materials. The pickups on the SRS are closer to the neck and the L2K pickups will be closer to the bridge. The L2K will be hotter if I remember it correctly but it's much easier to dial in a good tone with the SRS preamp.
Wow, those look awesome!!! Congratulations!

Those are 2 of the best looking basses I’ve ever seen!!drool
Thanks!
Thanks! I'm following in some cool footsteps...
I will say that I do have the dreaded 7-9 dead spot on the 4HH. The 5HH is on the money!
Hmm, G string? Maybe a touch weak on mine, maybe not after checking just now, but I dig in with a pick and can’t imagine it being an issue. There’s just so much bass there for me it’s not worth worrying about.
There is a Burnt Apple 5HH at Sweetwater for 2099.00. It's a demo and it's $230.00 off the original price. If I just didn't buy one I would be on the phone NOW.
It's 9 pounds. Go get it!!!

Ok so I was impressed with the tone of the TIJFs and not even bothered at all by the tension but there’s a problem. It’s the stickiness. It feels like the strings are glass and my fingers are rubber. It’s not a big deal on my fretting hand but I keep getting stuck with my fingers. Anyone experience this? I cleaned them before putting them on. I did the nose grease trick and that work for a while but in the end I don’t know if I can live with this.
