EBMM StingRay Special Club

I tried to get my basses to sound like different songs for a while and could not find the sauce. I realized that it was my amp and not the bass, so I grabbed some sim pedals and changed my Ampeg into a Mesa and another sim pedal and changed it to an Orange and another compressor etc....and another compressor and an extreme metal guitar sim pedal amp. The list goes on. Basically, it is the amps and pedals---the bass to some extent, but the vehicle is the vehicle--the engine is the engine.

Well , I stand corrected !!! I just received an email from Ernie Ball that says my Amethyst Sparkle 5H is ASH!!! I would have bet money it was alder.

 . So I’ll just attribute the extra warmth to the well broken in cobalt flats and the rosewood fingerboard.
Or maybe I should just :speechless: and enjoy that I love my basses.
Lol! It's interesting to me how different individual basses can have a variety of qualities that, taken together, will add up to a sound that defies expectations.

Fell in love with this girl last night and she came home with me!

Anyone else get a Tolex case with their special? Real nice case, but I was expecting the Mono case.

Playability and tone for days.Hard to capture the sparkle. But it’s so pretty.

Welcome back!!! Is that Burnt Apple? GC exclusive now I think. That probably explains the case. Or maybe it's a meter of what ever is available. Ive seen current offerings of the same Retro 70's online with either this case to the Mono. ( Not the Natural Ash only available through Ernie Ball direct.) I can't explain it.
Love the sparkles !!!

Yes it’s the Burnt Apple! So pretty, easy to play and light. Salesman wasn’t sure about the case. But it’s a nice solid case, with a cool piece that cradles the the lower horn.

I don’t think these came with marching headstock when this color was first introduced.
You still have your Sandberg too?
I do still have the Sandberg. But to afford this I’ll be putting it up for sale. Maybe one other as well.

I agree about the headstock. I dig it. I didn’t realize there were GC exclusive but it makes sense. Since I didn’t see this color on the EBMM website.

That's such a pretty finish and the matching headstock is a really nice bonus.

There's some glare in the picture so it's hard to tell, but it also looks like there's some nice figuring on the fretboard, too.

I bought mine in July or August, so I got the Mono case with it.

And it’s a great case. But the lack of back straps was a dealbreaker.

So I bought a ProTec Contega case for mine that’s the same as the Lull Contega cases. It’s the only one of the 3 Contega cases without the Lull stenciling on it.

And the Mono case for the Special? Some lady around these parts bought it…..:roflmao: :roflmao:

(@LadyLoveStingRay5 , of course….:D)

Thanks for pointing that out! Yes that’s the case. I’ll get a better shot. It’s just Purdy!
TBH, I didn’t look it over to much. I played it last week. Came back last night and it was still there and played it for 10 minutes and walked out with it. The saying play it before you buy it couldn’t be more dead on. I’ve bought one online before and it was a night mare. This one just sang and played amazing. Set up perfect.

That sounds cool. Imma wait on a new case. This one seems solid.

A little off topic, but… I picked up one of those Contego cases on a Black Friday sale. Very nice case. How do you find that Velcro on the neck enclosure holds up—if you’re using it a lot, have you found that it loses its stickiness over time?

So far, so good on the Velcro strap that secures the neck.

One of my Lull-stenciled Contega cases is a 2018 case and the Velcro neck strap still secures the neck quite nicely. One of the zippers’ little handles broke off, but I was able to fix that with a tie wrap. All good there…:D
