I really like this colour of green, but I feel like there's a different combo of hardware/pg colours that would make it even better. The green sparkle, maple neck, white pg, chrome hareware, and black inlays is a lot of different tones. I wonder how it would looks with black hardware, black pickup instead. Or ebony fretboard, black pickguard & black pickup cover.

Punch!!! Something about the 2 bands and the way they punch. But in my hands, they tend to be too bright, especially with rounds. The Old Smoothie is the exception .
How would you compare string tension between the stock EB Slinkies and the Cobalt Flats? I dig the tone and playability I’m getting but have been curious for a while about the flats.

Compared to the Specials, I find the Old Smoothie is even more warm and punchy. Of course I’m using flats. All of my Rays have flats.

I've thought about getting a Raspberry Burst myself, the finish can vary though so I'd only buy if you can see the actual instrument. Some are more red and some are more pink

I warned you…..EBMM basses are addictive. Outstanding build quality. They feel , play, and sound soooo good.

After you get more acquainted with her, I would love to know your favorite settings . On my 5HH , I find 1 and 4 to be my favorite.

Try Ernie Ball Slinky ( Cobalt ) flats. On my two fretted 5 string Specials, I use the lightest gauge 4 string set and add a single low B from the lightest 5 string set. I used to be able to order them single. These are flats that sound like rounds and can thump with the right amount of palm muting or some foam or felt under the strings .

FYI, all colours for the Specials are discontinued including the recent pastel ones except for the Harvest Orange. Expect new colours at NAMM this year.

Cobalts are higher tension I do believe. I use the lightest available .

I let go my Amethyst Sparkle but there is a good deal on a Ghostwood HH locally and I'm tempted...the seller said he measured it at 4.7kg / 10.4lbs...I just can't believe this is right, I've never seen them going above 9.7lbs... (and that would be rare)

This guy was 10lbs+. Was a heavy one for sure. I could be off bass but the SRS5sHH with an ebony board that I’ve seen in person and online were heavy as well. Not sure I if just saw heavy ones and was unlucky or not. YMMV.

Since it is also a transparent color I have seen some with a beautiful grain underneath while others seemed a bit plain, but still pretty. The ones with the beautiful grain went pretty quickly.

thanks for all your response! I think the seller is not measuring accurately which make me worried about the quality of the instrument, my return to the Stingray Special will wait for another time!

I've read discussion that the heavy flake Stingrays may weigh up to 1 lb. more due to the finish materials.

Maybe but my darkray was really light like 8.1 if I remember correctly

ummm OK! Which colour is THIS? I L O V E red basses! (the Stingray Special I had was this except really sparkly - which was why I sold it).
(being colour blind - reds tend to be relatively...'red'...for me lol)..so this might be worth looking into. Thanks for that pic.
